Choosing backsplash - ignore wall color? focus on counters?
Comments (18)Thanks for posting your pics marybeth. Your colors are lovely! I wish I had flat ceilings so I could paint those. Wouldn't my dh be so happy with me having to pick out those colors too? LOL Why is decorating so hard for some of us? I'm so thankful for everyone's input. No decision made yet. I think I'll go back to saving the cash for the purchase first. I'll put off the decision a while longer, but you guys have really steered me in a great direction. At first I was thinking of a gray glossy tile, with a black liner and then black tile on the diagonal. I think now that would be way too dark. I'm going to look toward the creamy tones everyone has suggested. THANKS...See MoreKitchen refresh: my New DIY matte/glossy backsplash and busy granite
Comments (17)Someone posted a reveal recently, confessing that she felt a bit unsure about her results, especially her BS. I know the feeling. I feel as if I've betrayed the prime directive when I see my BS paired with the counter. But my DH loves that granite so much, and I decided to get the BS I was going to see from the livingroom couch. And, yes amyfgib, my mare is the color of my lower cabinets and my gelding is white, brown and black. :) Thanks to all for your posts. It really is a kindness to take the time to tell a stranger they have a pretty BS....See MoreBacksplash with Taj Mahal counter
Comments (4)I can't comment on the pearlescent question, but I can say that it took us a long time to find our backsplash for Taj Mahal. We ended up choosing Crossville Market Street Ashbury Collection 3 x 6 tiles in the color "Fleece Crackle." This collection has lots of colors, shapes and sizes, and there were several light neutral colors. There are so many zilions of tiles, it can be overwhelming, but this is the one we finally settled on. Crackle finish doesn't give you the pearlescence you are seeking, but it does give a little bit of visual dimension while remaining a smooth surface. When we were searching, we wanted a calm backsplash that wouldn't compete with the Taj....See Morebacksplash help please!
Comments (7)You know, matching whites can be so difficult. The background white of your counter is a little different from the white in your cabinets. Introducing a third white could look off, as you describe. I think neither tile is quite right for your space. Look at a tile manufacturer that makes several whites and order samples. If you’re going to choose white, choose one that matches the white in your cabinets. But you can also choose a gray that plays well with the gray in your counter and in your wall color. Here are some options to consider from Fireclay Tile....See Morecrl_
