Ok, this is what I've done so far. Remember my craft show's not until Sept but it will take me that long to paint all I want to paint. The first pic is my cabin bench. This one's not finished yet. I only have both sides done but I thought you might like to see how it's coming. I'm working on 2 more planter chairs right now then I think I'll do some chairs with seats :0)....then I have signs, fan blades, canes........well you get the idea. Gail

Gail~ as always a resounding WOW! You are spitting those things out pretty dang quick girl! You do animals really well can I just say. Mine would end up looking like a brown pig I'm sure. ha Very well done. I hope you do more stools. Who doesn't like a stool and that one is very cute. Love the pine cones and love the color on the vase back chair. And even though yellow is one of my least favorite colors the rocking chair is still a beauty. You are going to do so well at the show! Such a good selection and all very different and pretty. ~Anj

My goodness, Gail, you are sure putting the rest of us to shame. Do you ever sleep girl? LOL

All of your designs are just perfect for the items you paint them on. You must be a contortionist to paint all those designs on the chairs. I have a hard enough time on a flat surface!

I know your craft space is going to be one of the most popular ones--everyone will want to see all your chairs and things. Hope you have lots of good sales too.

MM, after watching all the neat changes that blogger does with decorating her hutch, is what makes me want one to play with so badly. But I honestly have NO place to put one. I am thinking maybe here in my "dog den" (my 6 Whippets, my TV, and my computer. LOL) when my 18 yr old fish kicks the bucket. I want that 50 gal tank gone and its either put a loveseat there, or a hutch. My dogs vote for the loveseat of course. LOL. Trouble is, I've heard of these kind of fish living for up to 30 yrs. LOL. (he's a freshwater scavenger, Plecostamus, and looks like a prehistoric monster. His shark buddy died last year at same age. Anyway, he's here till the end. ;o) Lynne mentioning decorating your curio cabinet. I do that for Christmas with several of mine, but never have for other holidays. Can't seem to bring myself to pack or sell my many collections. MM, leaving you with my favorite quote... "You just gotta learn to dance while Life is throwing chainsaws and chickens at you.... after the first few cuts and pecks, the rest is easy." hugs, Karen

Thanks so much for the kind words! It's nice to get nice comments from people outside of my family (who are obligated to say nice things). I'll try to post photos from our better camera later. On top of the hill is a red barn and silo. On the hill are some hay bales. I knew that I wanted to do a farm landscape bc that's the landscape in our area. The sky was the trickiest part, in terms of getitng it to look somewhat realistic; so, I watched a couple fo YouTube videos of "how to paint a sky." I actually re-painted the sky a couple of times to make it look right. Who knew that something that simple looking would be so challenging to paint? Before I tackled the huge painting I did a tiny (8x10) loose mock up, just to make sure that I wouldn't waste my time doing a huge version if the small one looked like hell. The small one looked ok; so, then I did the big one. It was definitely more challenging doing it on a huge scale bc when you blow things up, the lack of detail in the painting is more obvious. Anyway, the whole thing was a learning process bc as I painted and made mistakes, I figured out what didn't work and what worked better. I definitely had moments of frustration while painting it bc things just didn't look right, but I think I eventually fixed them to a point where it looked better. I found myself saying to myself several times during the process, "Why do I think that I can do this?!?" At the end of it though, I am really pleased with how it turned out. Anyway, if you are contemplating anything that seems kind of daunting, I have found that in general, if you break it up into little manageable parts, you can usually accomplish it to a passable degree. The worst that could happen is that the project fails, but in the grand scheme of life, that's not so bad. And on the flip side, you might suprise yourself!

It took me about 2 months to get up the courage to start this thing once I realized how involved it was. I was also stalling because I wanted silver fabric instead of gray. The Chacopaper I found at Michaels. Now that I purchased a bit of 30's repros, I will be using them for several of my blocks, like the mixing bowls & teacups. I was trying to use stuff out of my stash that looked sort of old fashioned before I broke down & bought MORE fabric. And will buy some 30's for the border. I'll probably hang this in my dining room. I don't have room in my kitchen & wouldn't want any kitchen messes to end up on my work of art! The pattern is by Lori Holt. "Bee in My Bonnet" patterns are available from Lori at 801-446-9117. They aren't widely available & she doesn't have a website that I know of. Vacation home decor with Saltillo Tile

An old friend of mine had a Florida house with tile floors like these, and made it simple and stylish with soft clear white walls, palest possible sky blue ceilings, bamboo roller blinds with white muslin curtains with a 24" border of faded warm khaki at the bottom, sisal rugs, natural cane chairs, painted tables of various kinds (tag sales, certainly), ivory twill (or was it sail canvas?) slipcovered upholstery, and lots of pillows made out of Indian print cotton bedspreads. There was some sort of fabulous trunk thing as the coffee table, and a big heavy picnic table for the dining room. Don't remember the chairs. I think the bedrooms had different colored borders on the curtains - she made them all herself, and I seem to remember pale seafoam green and icy blue as well, but I'm sure about the warm khaki in the living and dining areas of the open plan. Don't remember what was on the walls, but I have a memory of just a few very large very pale things, and some mirrors.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like them. I think my hubby is getting tired of it. He always sees me with a paint brush in my hand! LOL...I want to be sure I have enough for my booth. Last year I think I had about 14 chairs. It's a 10 x 10 tent and was very crowded until some of them sold. But this year the show will last for 3 days. I wanted to do some signs too because not everyone will be able to buy a chair but I'm not sure how I will display them. Gail

Gail, Just a suggestion. I've seen one of the lattice panels hung from the bars of the tent, then the signs hung on that with S hooks. That might work for you. Your canes could even hang from it too.

With a 3 day show, I can see why you would need lots of inventory. And you are smart to have a variety of products in different price ranges to suit every pocketbook.

And remember, any that don't sell there, the quilter lady will probably want at her store. ;o)

Luvs, I've thought of using the lattace. I would have to attach it on the bottom too. This show is on grass so that shouldn't be hard to do. Now if I can just get my husband to make it. We'll see how many signs I actually get painted. Gail

Just go buy a couple of panels at Lowe's, then if need be, your DH could cut them. The new "plastic, wood look" ones are really pretty inexpensive. Use wire to attach to the top tent bars, then more wire and some wooden stakes for the bottom. Hope you get lots of signs painted. ;o) Luvs

If you don't want to use wooden stakes, use the dog tiedown screws...They work great!

Gail, you are doing a wonderful job on your projects. I sometimes forget to come over here and look in the gallery. I did a couple of chairs some time ago, one was a dainty antique chair with the caning messed up. So I made it into a plant chair for my front porch. Always got nice compliments on it but haven't done another one.

You said your husband always sees you with your paint brush in hand. Mine too. I have gone to bed with brushes in my hair (a habit of sticking one where ever it will hold). My husband says when I die he will stick a few brushes in the casket with me, I told him that would be great, just add a few bottles of paint and I will leave a happy woman. It is now included in my funeral plans, for real!! I can't imagine going any place with out my paints and brushes - you never know when you might need them.
