New Year's Resolution to FINISH started projects!

Anyone care to join me in that commitment? Or maybe I'm the only one with a problem in this area! Anyway, here are a few of the ones I want to complete, before I begin anything new!

The picture of the edge of a mirror, I need advice on how to finish the edge! It is double thick cardboard on the back of a heavy old mirror. I'm thinking of painted rope or something? The napkin holder will have the edges painted and the sides mosaiced.

I'll join you in that resolution! Mine mostly just need to be grouted. I LOVE your lazy bill and the silver bowl! OH, and the rock tray and the chair! Oh, and the silver tray and npakin holder and pitcher! IT'S ALL GOOD!!

Love your started projects! Is the first one a tray or lazy susan??

No idea for the edge, I try to avoid them whenever possible ( doing an edge!!)

My 2007 resolutions are worded more as observations from previous years. 1. 500+ corn plants provides more than enough corn to feed my family of 2, all my friends, all my co-workers, and still leave plenty to freeze. 2. 40 tomato plants provides more than enough tomatoes to feed my family of 2, all my friends, all my co-workers, and still leave plenty to freeze, can, make salsa, make tomato sauce, make pizza sauce, make and freeze soup. 3. 15 young trees (less than three years in the ground) in a drought requires nightly watering from four hoses to get them all drinks every week. 4. Gardening/landscaping projects on 20 acres of land tend to be much larger, much more expensive, much more time-consuming, and much more stressful than similar projects on the average city lot. 5. What's the point of a nice front porch with comfy chairs if you never have time to sit there with a cocktail and the dogs and enjoy the sunset? 6. What's the point of a nice back patio with comfy chairs if you never have time to sit there with a cup of coffee and the dogs and enjoy the sunrise? To sum it up, my resolution, my one and only 2007 resolution, is to plan my spring/summer/fall projects, then cut them in half, then cut in half again, then dive in knowing that I will only get half of it done. I too decided this was the year to "get it together". I've let it slide far too long :( When I had my second son almost 6 years ago, life seemed to turn upside down. He had a double hernia operation at 4 months old so not sure if it contributed but he was extremely miserable for the first 4 months of life and he grew into a toddler with a very difficult personality (he's SO much better now). My personality wasn't able to cope very well with it. At some point during the difficult toddler years, we finished our basement. Everything that was down there had to come upstairs very quickly. Some of them boxes that hadn't been opened since we moved here several years prior. I'm sure I fell into some kind of depression. What I learned from Hoarders is that I think we do develop a sort of "clutter blindness". It's how we can survive living with stuff everywhere. I'm certainly not a level "5" or anything but I had stuff piled up in places and I was able to just live around it (like it didn't exsist). I also came to realize I hadn't thrown anything away in my many years. I still had stuff from when I was a teenager. I used to work in the beauty business and had SO much stuff I had acquired for free that wasn't being used. We started a couple years ago with a huge garage sale (sold $1,000). I had another one last spring (sold $500) but I still had stuff everywhere in certain spots. I'm keeping only certain things from my kids for the future. Who even knows if they'll need them? I kept a few special books and some special toys (like Playmobil) and that's it. I've stored them properly away and we'll see what happens with them. We save artwork for a year and then we go through it and pick only a special few pieces which I then store in special boxes I created for them. That's been the best decision ever! It's so much better doing these projects with help. An outside eye that can help you make decisions and move forward. We tackled my lower landing which had become a catch all for stuff and my basement laundry room. My laundry room was new as part of our basement refinish and it's very large. It has a huge table in the middle on castors (ala Martha Stewart) and the kids and I can do crafts here, I wrap gifts here and fold laundry. It too had "caught" stuff and wasn't being utilized as I had intended. Anywho ... two full days of purging and cleaning ... one car load of stuff taken away to charity ... and they both look wonderful! I still have a few items in the laundry room that have significant value so I'm taking them to consignment this week and I have some laundry to work through. When we built the room, I had it wired for a wall mount tv so I'm finally going to get that set up. I'm excited about the possibilities now! I lie in bed at night thinking of what the next project will be. I have hope that finally this house will get in order. I think I may take your advice and hire a cleaning lady to keep things clean while I focus on getting things in order. Even if I just do it for this year, I think it would help a lot. I'm excited for my kids. I want them to grow up in organization and know how to do it for themselves when the time comes. I really think for some (like me) it's a skill you need to learn. It doesn't come naturally. I'll keep checking in to see how you're doing as I keep forging forward myself. My next project is at my mom's house. We are tackling her kitchen. She's already been out and bought some Oxo containers for her pantry and some other handy organizing pieces. We're going to whip her kitchen into shape! Best of luck! Hi all! I'm new to the forums but I have an idea why this one doesn't get much response. It's not listed in any of the categories, it's only listed sort of alphabetically in the s's as The Single Life, it took me several visits to find it and I still have trouble remembering where it is on the list to click so I can lurk! Maybe someone should suggest to Spike? that it be made more visible, I know that there are a lot of singles on the forums. calverttx, unfortunately, HoopSisters doesn't make their patterns available for sale except to authorized dealers for the first 2 years. After that, you will be able to purchase it. They have some older patterns you can purchase if you see one you like. I did the Feathered Star quilt about 2 years ago.

Thanks Cindy and Maria, the top one is the lazy susan for my table, want to do a napkin holder, tissue box and ?? to match! The rock tray is tile I got for $5.00 a box at a local tile store, broken pieces, show boards, etc. The place is now gone, and Color Tile isn't as friendly! I mostly use dishes anyway! Whoever gave the idea for using BB's, THANKS! I love the look they give, I had bad luck using cheap beads!

You've got some great things started there!!!!! You're not alone is that resolution....but I've already broken it....I am on 3 of 9 projects.....but I have finished a new one in between.....I'm not right.......and I really probably have 15, not 9 waiting in the corners not done......I'm a sick person.

I'll join in ......lately , I seem to jump to another project before one is finished.

I HEREBY VOW TO FINISH ALL MY WIP'S .......AT LEAST BY THE YEAR 2009.

DIAMOND - you REALLY have been busy. I love every one of them, but don't envy you on grouting day - I don't like grouting. I REALLY like all your projects, and I especially like the white tray design. What is the filler for that one?

oh that blue combo took my breath away... I couldn't stand NOT seeing what those gorgeous things will look like finished. My impatience drives me to grout all night long sometimes. those are all so beautiful!

They are all great pieces! Get them grouted so you can enjoy them! So we can all enjoy them. I know better than make resolutions, so I resolve not to make resolutions.

I am going to join you.. but not to finish but to START some.. ( besides my ball,, it's almost done)

Can't wait to see Annie's headboards too!

Grouting will probably be DAYS, not day! NICE, I wish I had that kind of energy when it comes to grouting time!

TooMuch, anytime goes! My hope is to stop STARTING without finishing!

WOW! Just love all of your things. I can see you don't like to grout either. I have 3-4 things waiting to be grouted. I can always go in the basement and break and glue, but the grouting is another thing. Good luck.

I took another look and notice the bookend - are those tacks. I bought some at Lowes yesterday to add to my stash. Those look great on your bookend.

Adhesives! but that space in your brain shrinks inbetween projects as you get fresh air. Which stands to reason, because substrates needs the room to swell abit as you shop..

Slow, it does look like a bookend, but is a napkin holder. The silver balls are BB's, or better said, slingshot balls!

Ok, I think I can do this ONE little thing:

I vow to finish up the 'touch-up' work on my backsplash that never got done after the install (grouting screwholes and section lines, re-glueing a couple missing pcs, etc)
