It wouldn't even be on my radar for a sink. I would think it would be impossible to avoid scratches in a sink.

Now if there were a scratch on the front of my fridge, that's another story; depending on where it was.

It is the nature of stainless steel sinks and other surfaces to scratch, which we politely call patina. It's the first but not the last. Don't drive yourself crazy. Forget it because it will happen again and again.

That happened to me, too. I nearly went ballistic when I saw the scratches! I had looked at the sink when it was in the box and everything looked fine.

The GC called back the fabricator to ask what had happened, and they claimed they didn't do anything. They suggested that the scratches were there when I got it, but just didn't see it until the light hit it a certain way. I'm not sure whether to believe them or not, especially after the guy tried to tell me we never told him I wanted a negative reveal for the sink, then admitted to the GC that he just forgot. (They had to redo the sink area.)

I started searching for scratch removers. I saw the Scratch-B Gone you are referring to. I also picked up some Rejuvenate from Home Depot, but I have been too chicken to use it, afraid I'll make it worse.

I have since seen other scratches, and I'm not nearly as upset as I was when I first saw them. (Steam was coming out of my ears at first!) I'll post back if I decide to try the Rejuvenate. Or I might try it on our fridge, as that thing has tons of scratches from the previous owner.

Thanks, everyone! I have decided to forget about it. BUT I did purchase a grid for the bottom of the sink, which may help avoid (some) scratches in the future.

A few things exist but not an easy task. Usually a three step process and not for something like a sink. A really bad scratch on a 'scratch-n-dent' sale might be worth it. Usually the entire panel needs treating to even it out.

A friend visiting a few days after my stovetop was installed, went after a spot with a scrubbie, yikes. Still there. 8yrs later. Never blended but sort of accepted it. Other light hits make it less noticeable. It is some high quality stainless surface that just needs a mild soap and a wipe no mater the mess.

Like mentioned, sinks just get that way. Patina.

I would probably mention it in a "that's to bad" kind of way. A big dent with a deep power tool scratch i would want it replaced.
Mentioning it but accepting it might work in your favor on another issue...
"they have accepted a few minor mistakes...we should be, not only more careful, bla bla, but replace this other more obvious mistake..."

I wouldn't sweat it.

Stainless steel, especially in a sink, isn't difficult to refinish, depending on the depth of the scratch. Get some varying grits of abrasives and have at it. I posted some pictures of scratches I removed from a cooktop (much more fussy than a sink) but I can't find them.
