Which cabs should be glass?
Comments (15)From the looks of the kitchen pictured, you don't have a lazy susan. It looks that the cabinets are at right angles, so those are blind cabinets at top and at the bottom. Maybe they do the layout differently than show in the picture though. I had thought about the windows over by the fridge, but didn't really like that look since it would be either the two doors nearest the fridge or two doors nearest the corner - the glass nearest the fridge means that it is likely that it will draw even more attention to the fridge. And the glass nearest the corner seems like it might be a bit off - that it will be unbalanced. I assume that you are going to put some decorative items on top of the cabinets, and if so, that will help to break things up a bit. Oh, and if you can, see if they will put a board at the top of the cabinets that will make the whole area flat and level - easier for cleaning and easier for decorating. The board wouldn't show because it would nestle below the crown molding....See MoreType of glass cabinet insert for contemporary style
Comments (5)hi - all of the uppers in our kitchen reach the ceiling and are glass front (clear) and I don't notice the lights at all (and I really am someone who notices stuff like that) - two things I do notice with the glass fronts: 1) all of the freaking holes that run along each side of the cab for the adjustable glass shelves (I filled each of them with tinted putty - very tedious) and 2) a few errant screws that did not get sunk properly at the very top of the cabinets that also need some sort of putty. In our kitchen, I think to see the actual lights you would need to stand right up next to the counter and look straight up into the top of them, which is not something I do - we do have the lights on all the time - I love the mellow light they cast. HTH!...See MoreWhere can I find this mesh for cabinet doors?
Comments (22)gidgetgirly, thanks so much. I planned it myself but I am a kitchen designer and took a very long time to plan it. came up with a million iterations for the space which had a lot of difficult problems to overcome. I found my invoice, I paid $258 for the pair of grilles. The cabinet company ordered them for me so that they would be the correct size and so the doors accepting them could be modified with a wooden band and screws to keep them in place. thanks again...See MoreUpgrading cabs with aftermarket cabinet accessories
Comments (6)I used a variety -- rev-a-shelf, another brand from Target, Ikea. And, I wish I could remember the website, (but I found it by googling) that offers all kinds of wood interior, aftermarket fittings, drawers and shelves. Oh, there is Lee Valley, too!...See Moreigloochic
