Hanging fabric with starch

I am considering hanging fabric on the wall using the starch method. It will be a 8.5 ft W x 7.5 ft H section in the back of my desk/office nook. I think I have all the information to actually hang the fabric. My question is about the fabric itself.

The fabric I would like to use is pretty expensive and I need about 6 yards. The fabric is 100% cotton and the cleaning code says Dry Clean. Nearly all the designer fabrics seem to be labeled Dry Clean these days. Most of the instructions I have read say that the fabric should be pre washed. Do I just put the fabric in the washer & dryer? Send it to the cleaners? Just hang it as is? Any suggestions from those of you with some fabric knowledge and experience? Thanks
