Dishwasher liquid won't work, it's not soap. for it to really work you need real soap (it can't be called soap unless it is based on fatty acid salts - I learned that legal bit of info when I was making soap), the fatty acid salts are supposed break down the bugs cells. I like neem oil, but I hate the oily residue it leaves, don't have that issue with insecticidal soap. But then, I have tried everything to control aphids in the greenhouse, I have yet to find anything that kills them for good, (or for that matter, even puts a dent in their propagation) except tossing them out in sub freezing weather. Just a bit of info I found on the internet regarding *Glycerine* soap -vs- Transparent soap Melt and Pour Soap: Also known as solid Glycerin. Pure glycerin, animal or vegetable based, is always liquid and can only be solidified by the addition of plasticizer chemicals. To produce a foam, detergents are added. This method is simply making soap from soap and is more expensive than starting from scratch. Melt and pour soaps may have natural ingredients added to them but they are synthetically based. This type of soap can actually be drying to your skin! Transparent Soap:This soap is made clear by adding solvents such as alcohol to prevent crystals from forming as the soap cools. Transparent soap is often referred to as Glycerin Soap. However, this is a fallacy as glycerin is not needed to produce a clear or transparent soap. This soap can be drying to the skin.

I'm just guessing here, but since the ingredients are so simple, & there doesn't appear to be a catalyst (like lye) to cause a true saponification to occur, (which chemically changes the ingredients into something "new"), & there isn't a lathering oil, like coconut oil (I think...brain is very blonde right now....) it may be a soap that just doesn't lather much. Again, if I'm remembering correctly (see comment above...) soap made with olive oil alone, does produce a harder soap, BUT doesn't really lather. That's why a lot of CP soaps use a combination of olive, palm & coconut oils to produce a nice bar that lathers well, & holds up well. I don't know that adding more glycerin will do much good, not sure if curing it any longer will help or not.... I'm sure there are some folks around who have more info on this than me...... Just guessing, Hazel

I haven't made any soap. I'm looking for soap base recipes. I have 1 soap base recipe, the person that supplied that took pics and inclued them in the recipe. That soap base turns a red-ish clear color (from the pics). I have no ingredents because I have no recipes minus the one I mentioned. I am looking for Saop Base recipes that come out a white-ish to clear color. It doesn't have to be a perfect "clear" it can be cloudy. I just want to be able to add my own color to it and it be that color. Thank You
