Could you tell us the source of the recipe? That is often a good indication of the safety. Given the very small proportions then I'd have to guess that it isn't intended to be canned but is only for fresh use and/or refrigerator storage only. Plus doing it in such small amounts wouldn't be either time or energy efficient. That said, given the approved instructions for pressure canning peppers (linked below) it would probably be safe given it is predominately just water. If some sort of hot pepper sauce is what you are after then there are much better instructions available. Just put 'hot pepper sauce' into the search bar for several previous discussions on recipes. Rhubarb has a pH of 3.1-3.4. There seems to be a misapprehension about the use of lemon juice in many preserves. Except for a few fruits (i.e. figs, melons, bananas) or savory jellies such as pepper jellies lemon juice or other acid is not required for safety in sweet preserves. Lemon juice is often added to improve the set, especially in traditional preserves without commercial pectin. To set a preserve needs a proper balance of acid+pectin+sugar and sometimes it can be difficult to achieve that balance. Rhubarb is traditionally regarded as an "unreliable setter." It is often preserved in combination with other fruits higher in natural pectin. If a rhubarb recipe calls for lemon juice it's to improve the likelihood of a good set. Carol

Although I have heard some wee bit about spraying a Boric Acid solution to keep ants away, and it might be somewhat effective while wet, when dry the ants would probably not pick any up and it would not be effective. I have heard of making a bait of molasses, usually black strap, with a small quantity of Boric Acid mixed in which then does poison the ants. The recipe I recall is 1 tablespoon Boric Acid in 1 cup of molasses and placed outside away from where the ants were gaining entry into the house. In the house Lemon Juice or Peppermint oil can be used to redirect the wee buggers back outside. Keep in mind that Boric Acid can be a poison in humans and pets so due care in use and storage is necessary.

Acid washing Diamond Brite can leave streaks in the finish. An acid bath takes longer, but you will get a more even result. Both methods work. After the acid bath the PB will need to rebalance the chemistry. I prefer the bath because of the uniformity. It's more expensive to do because it takes a lot of acid to lower the ph down to about 2 on the ph scale and then re-balance the water when it's all done.
