The incredibly lovely Janet (floridarosez9) has gifted me with cuttings of Duchesse de Brabant and I hoping I can keep them alive through the colder months. I am delighted to hear she is a fragrant treasure. The pictures I have seen of her are exquisite. I did plant Lamarque, MAC, and Penelope this summer! Glad to know I am on the right track. They were originally created to purify the air of hospital wards.The lamps are still widely popular. And why wouldn't they be? Their easy to use technique has kept their popularity alive even after hundred years. These lamps are multi functional i.e. they purify air, they burn to give light and they are delicate objects of beauty. Different from other multi functioning objects, this lamp performs its three duties extremely well. Other fragrance lamps will use sixteen ounces to only offer the customer about fifty five burnings with forty five minutes of light. Don't do candles anymore - too much soot and it damages the walls. I like melting tarts in a warmer - no soot and the scent is usually stronger because they can put more oil in them (no contact with a flame). I occasionally use oil warmers as well. I've used a Lampe Berger for years to remove really strong odors. I agree with Cajun - the knockoffs smoke a lot and damage the stone. I tried them for many years because they were cheaper, but went back to the original after ruining a few wicks. Love the Vanilla Gourmet. I also like plug ins. Used to use BBW Wallflowers until a year ago when they changed their formula. Can't smell them now. I'm experimenting with Febreze which is doing a good job, but I miss the scents from BBW. Wish I could use reed diffusers, but with pets in the house I can't risk someone chewing on them or tipping them over.

The only one I've ever burned was La Tee Da.... I'm out of oil...and need more... My daughter bought a "La Tee Da" burner for me for either my birthday or Mother's day a year or two ago. And a few bottles of the oil. A couple of weeks ago I found another burner at the Goodwill for 2.99. So now I really need to find where they sell the oil. My daughter at the time she bought it owned half ownership of a flower/gift shop. In a town about an hour from here. But they are high dollar. I've heard that Halmark did carry La Tee Da...I think I'll start there. Any suggestions on a floral scent that is good? patti
