Singer Golden Touch and Sew
Comments (5)I also have a Touch'N Sew Singer 758 and love this machine. I would not change any of the new ones for this Singer. Now, also, I would like to machine quilt with it. I misplaced my instructions book and cannot remember the procedure to machine quilt with my T&S. I did it before but my mind is not into it I guess... I remember I have to put the no-dog plate and there is the embroider attachment to put on. Then, I have to put the foot pressure to Darn or do I?? Yet, it doesn't work at all. Could it be a thread problem? there is not even a good stitch after stitching a little bit. What am I doing wrong?...See MoreSinger Touch and Sew HELP!
Comments (13)Hi, I have a Touch & Sew 706 in it's original cabinet. Hubby bought it for me over 30 years ago. Four years ago it had to have a very major repair involving a new bobbin winding mechanism and a new gear. The repairman said it was worth getting it repaired. The parts had to come from Germany and it was at the repair shop 2 weeks. Since it came back it's been working hard - making quilts. It purrs like a kitten and is a pleasure to use. I still have the worry occasionally, that something will go wrong. I did find that I kept breaking needles until I realised that I wasn't pushing the needle all the way into the needle housing when I replaced it. I love this machine but I also have a lightweight Toyota ECO 15A, bought from Tesco Direct to take to quilting group. Since getting the Singer repaired and buying the cheap Toyota, I have really come to appreciate my old T & S....See MoreSinger Touch & Sew machine as a starter model?
Comments (11)OMG! Artemis, if you decide you want to get rid of that machine (and it works), let me know. I bought one when I was still in HS & paid $18/mo. Mine had the cams for all the decorative stitches & I paid a whopping $300+ back then. I sewed on it practically every day. That is the best machine I've ever had. I could sew upholstery fabric without a problem. I burned up the foot pedal & decided to get a new machine. I wasn't pleased with it, but used it for a few years. One day I decided to have my Singer fixed. When I was sewing with it, my daughter came out of her room & said, "I remember that sound". After that, I had it fixed so many times that it couldn't be fixed anymore. I literally wore it out! I still have it tho. I saw on a website, but can't remember where, that people are actually collecting those machines. Those machines lasted so long & that's why Singer went to plastic machines so they would wear out. You'll love it. I had the buttonhole attachment that made wonderful buttonholes. I haven't been able to make a good buttonhole since then now that you have to zig zag for awhile & turn back, etc....See MoreSinger 758 Touch & Sew - Needle moves too far left to right... Advice?
Comments (3)You should probably put this in "Sewing" rather than Home Decorating. You might want to buy a service manual to fix this. I can't find any free downloads, but can give you a couple of links to buy one, if you're interested....See Morelgrogers1
