PLEASE Help me with Gray paint
Comments (49)Winesnob, I struggled and struggled with grays also and spent many $$ on samples. I finally hired a color consultant who helped me work it all out. I used BM Nimbus in my family room, which is open to my kitchen with very gray Carrara marble. Sometimes in certain lights and times of day, it has a wee bit of purpley undertones. I barely notice anymore as it just looks cool and goes well with the marble. My family room is somewhat open to my living room where I used BM Thunder. I love it! Its definitely darker than Nimbus, but has not the occasional purpley tones of it. Nor does it have any blue or green in my light. I wish I had pics, but I accidentally dropped my camera in the lake a few weeks ago. I laughed remembering my experiences and comparing them to some of the colors I tried that others mentioned above. Gray Owl, for instance, I rejected as it read very pastel/mint green in my family room with so much natural light, but in our office with far less natural light it's a pleasing light greenish gray. Quite the opposite of a previous poster's experience! Just goes to show you that it's all about the light in your OWN house!...See MoreMy daughter and husband fight constantly
Comments (5)Well, a few days have passed. My husband has been doing everything to change my mind about leaving him. I'm still here with him, so I guess I'm giving it a shot, I failed to mention in my first letter (I know it sounds like I'm sticking up for my husband, but it's really not that way), about the temper my daughter possesses. I know how to handle her, but others including my husband don't see her split personality. One minute she is a sweet little girl and the next she's on top of you screaming she is going to kill you in your sleep. That has happened to my husband just twice in the past 18 years. The first episode was 7 years ago and they haven't been close since. Things were getting good and now she lashes out at him again a few days ago, He has sworn to me that he never wants to see me cry like I did that night., nor does he ever want to bring out that hate in my daughter again. My husband and daughter have made an agreement to move forward, but how long it will last I don't know. I'm going to visit my daughter next weekend alone and I will be cuddling my grandson the entire time. I hope I can talk her into coming back and trying it again. Comments (23)bronwynsmom: I really appreciate your candor and understanding of what I'm going through. It isn't that easy an answer and you spelled out why! My FEELINGS are telling me to get a (slightly bluish)grayish carpet color (but slightly brownish too if that makes sense??) (which is a tad on the "cool" side) as it looks like it comes close to matching the grout/mortar in the fieldstone fireplace. It's possible though that the most COMPATIBLE carpet in terms of being on the same range of colors may be a normal "warm" tannish color due to my orange oak woodwork and camel colored chairs but that feels so same-ole same-ole. That's why I'm having trouble deciding which look will be better or more comfortable feeling. (I am a worry-wort by nature so if I can get a calming color scheme going I feel I might calm down too? Could this happen with color?) "Relax" might be the most applicable suggestion you make, because I'm not relaxed about it is why I think everyone in my family runs the other way when they know I'm trying to decide on a color for something... Anyways, I know you're absolutely right on with everything you wrote so I will do just what you suggest, give it my best and cross my fingers. Thanks so much!...See MoreNeed help accessorizing my gray/white kitchen (warm it up!)
Comments (29)Love the ideas above. I'm like you love the natural and not so into colour. I've got herbs bamboo blinds and a Big end grain cutting board in our black and white kitchen. I've also got a small wool rug on the floor with deep reds and blues. The Dutch put these rugs on their tables and mine is probably too valuable to go on the floor but it sure looks nice....See Moretuesday_2008
