Sizzix Personal Die Cutter

Just wondering if anyone has one and how they like it. I am thinking of asking for one for Christmas. Any comments would be appreicated. Thanks in Advance.

I haven't spoken to anyone who has one but I've already put in my order. Check out the Sizzix web site(www.sizzix.com). Some of the dies are amazing. I've already bought 4 with Michael's coupons in anticipation.Mare

Thanks, Mare for the info. I found one in the Creative Xpress catalog and am thinking about ordering one. The closest Michaels to me is about 50 miles away and I may call them to see if they have any in stock. Then I won't have to wait for the order to come in!!

LOL Ilana has been busy indeed! What a lovely and thoughtful gift....or shall I say bunch of gifts! She sent me some pretty little dichroic glass pieces. I bought a GrandMARK die cutting machine in August 2007. I am a beginning quilter...started about two years ago. I was becoming frustrated with my inaccurate cutting resulting in wasting fabric and pieces that didn't fit together well. I was ready to give up quilting as I just wasn't happy as to how my projects were turning out. I began looking for a die cutting machine as I had seen some die cut fabric on some websites. I found accucut's website and found the customer representative to be very pleasant and helpful. I bought the grandmark machine along with the 8" quilt block starter set. You can also buy a 10" or 12" quilt block set. With any of the three quilt block starter kits you can make 36 different blocks with the dies you get with the machine. This is a link to a two page pdf on accucut's website which shows the dies included in the set and the blocks that can be made with the dies. http://www.accucut.com/images/documents/2006/MMQD.pdf I am very pleased as it is a real joy to use. i find that I waste very little fabric. The pieces fit together so beautifully. Some of the current quilting magazines have coupons which I believe can be used for up to 20% off on your order. I, too, am wondering how long these cans of lights are going to last. We just bought a home built in 1873, but rehabbed recently. I can't help but think it a bit odd to look up at a chandelier in the DR and notice these additional light cans all over the ceiling. Same with the kitchen/family room and LR. Funny looking things and don't seem to provide all that much light for the sheer number of them. On the other hand I was really tickled to find the "cloud" style flourescent fixtures for the basement. I don't think I'd use them on the main floors, but they diffuse the light really well and I don't have to see these cans all over the ceiling. (A heck of a lot more cost effective, too). Actually I don't much like trendiness since it usually brings with it poor imitations of something that probably once spoke of quality (amateurish faux finishes, fancy moldings made of plastic, plastic fences, etc.) Guess I'm sort of a purist at heart.

I own a Sizzix and like it alot. I received it as a gift from my mother. She purchased it at Michaels with a 50% off coupon!!! The dies, in my opinion, are pricey but I plan to buy more dies using Michaels coupons.

Thanks for your help, Pittypat. I thought maybe some one might like to trade die cuts. I have ordered the primitive hearts and the stocking and should be getting them soon along with the cutter. Was told the order has been shipped. The other things I ordered from Creative Xpress have been back ordered. And I got a med. frog from Michaels the other day. Let me know if anyone wants to swap and I will let you know when I get mine.

They put them in the weekly ad. The one this week is 40% off, but the Sizzix is already on sale, and they wont take it off the sale price.

I had the clerk in Michael's open one up to see if a free die came with the Cutter. It doesn't. I had my 50% coupon in my hand but felt I'd wait bit more. I bet a lot of crafters are surprised when they open the box and don't find anything to practice with.

I got one for Christmas from my DH! I love it. I would really be interested in swapping die cuts with anyone who is willing! I have the number set and the upper case alphabet set, snowflake, frames, squares and hearts. My Michael's store doesn't carry much in dies. I keep going in with my 40% off coupon and end up buying something else instead!

Love mine too! I bought it to use with fabric, and it works great (using heat and bond on the back of fabric)
Also got mine at Michaels with their 50% coupon. Only shop there with a coupon, hate that place.
