The tile is okay - the vertical installation is good and plumb (tracking a consistent row of tiles down both corners - and it's pretty good) but the horizontal is problematic. As someone who is working hard to minimize grout in bathrooms, I simply don't understand the choice - especially on the walls - at least the floor has an anti-slip function.. And I certainly don't understand the black grout choice when there are so many known issues on how it accentuates any imperfections.

I looked at Paula Deen's recipe, and that does look like a lot of sugar - it is really necessary? Carrots are already sweet. I would have to reduce the sugar to no more than 1/4 cup (down from one cup) if I were going to make this recipe. This recipe uses 2 Tbsp (brown) sugar for 1 pound of carrots vs one cup for two pounds in Paul's recipe. Incidentally, I never peel carrots - they do not have a peel the way potatoes do - I just scrub them really well, and this removes any roots they may have.

My guest bath has 1” penny tile. All penny tike takes a top notch tile installer so you don’t see the sheets, or course if you are doing a shower you’ve already hired a tile pro not a handyman.
