My SIL is wanting to get into scrapbooking but she does not know what it is suppose to look like or what she is to do. Is there a website that has a tutorial on scrapbooking. Can you help. Any help would be appreciated.She would really like to take some classes but does not know where to go. helen1

If your SIL lives near a Hobby Lobby or a Michaels or any scrapbooking store, she go in and browse the scrapping section and they often have pages hanging up that someone has done. They may teach classes too. And there are lots of books on the subject. While she's there, she can flip thru some of the books to get an idea of what pages look like.

Walmart also has a scrapping aisle. You'll find stamps, paper, scrapbook kits, books, ect. Tell her to start there and just get an idea of what supplies she'll need and what she might want to do.

Hobby Lobby often has different scrapping supplies on sale for 50% off. And Michael's too. So have her check the weekly ads. One week the acid free paper may be 50% off (like this week at Hobby Lobby), and one week the acid free stickers may be 1/2 off. The stamps and punches and scrapbooks, etc., are all 1/2 off occasionally at Hobby Lobby. Each week, it's something different. And since some of the supplies are rather expensive, I always look for the sales.

I also pick up acid free printer paper at office supply stores, like Office Maxx.

There are many more. Just do a search for "Scrapbook" and you'll get all kinds of sites. It's a great hobby. I love it. It can be as creative or as simple as you want it to be. The main objective is preserving memories so that they last for generations.

Most people use the real scrapbooks, usually 12 x 12. But most of them cost about $20 each. I prefer the 8 1/2 x 11 pages, which I slip into archival safe, top loading, 3 ring protector sheets. And then I put these in a regular 3 ring notebook. I paint the cover to make it pretty. And this size fits my book shelves well. I like to be organized and have everything match. So I can ALWAYS find the plain black 3 ring notebooks. And they come in different sizes--1 inch, 2 inch, 3 inch thick--so I can get different sizes for different scrapbooks I create, and they still all match and fit wonderfully on my shelves.

The attached underlayment is going to be insignificant (1.2mm thick) in it's construction. Vinyl doesn't do well with underpad which is why the underpad on the plank is so thin. Ignore the underpad. The flooring pro will be using a full spread adhesive when installing on the stairs. This itty bitty bit of underpad (it is pretty stiff all by itself...it's not the light and fluffy stuff on bad laminates) isn't going to cause an issue. Even if there was a micro-shift (so small you cannot detect it) the noising is going to keep everything in line anyways. Besides, to shave down 1.2mm underpad, you will be sitting cross legged in your kitchen with a carrot peeler or a straight razor blade for HOURS and HOURS and HOURS. And at the end of your attempt you will have carved up your planks so badly as to make them unusable...thereby requiring you to glue down the regular planks anyway.

It's unlikely a gouge; it's excessive seam adhesive which should scrape off with a razor blade. Unfortunaely, it's only on one side which means that side is probably low and since it's engineered stone, top polishing to flush is out of the question. Furthermore, adhesive shouldn't be wiped to flush before it cures because it shrinks as it catalyzes. Flush adhesive pre-cure will shrink below the seam when it does. You overfill and scrape to flush. Major rookie mistake. Looks like clear adhesive and it should have been factory color coordinated. More rookie. Where are the "wheel shapes that are smeary" please? On the deck or edges? Removing those and returning to factory finish will be problematic on the deck.

There are too many unknowns and variables to advise. Alll i can say is proceed carefuy OP or you may end up with exponentially worse situation. iF walls are old plaster and lath sometimes removing trim will loosen plaster and necessitate massive amount of plaster repair and/or replacement. It can be very expensive to custom mill trim to match your house unless you dont mind a slumlord appearance of mismatched woodwork (not advised). Windows - old wood double hung windows in good functioning condition dont necessarily devalue a house, and new windows dont necessaily increase the value - in fact often the opposite unless done in such a way as to preseve design integrity. I have beautiful gliding double hung windows I can lift with a single finger, would never trade those for some cheap crummy vinyl windows which jam, break and ae destined o the landfill in 20 ys.. However if the paint has globbed up entire sashes and channels to the point they are not functioning very well then yah you might want to look into replacement but could be sash only, would not hae to be the entire window. There are metal sash kits which then are inserted into the old window channels that the new sashes ride in. One way to deal with the lead issue is to just assume that if your house has paint that was applied before lets say mid 1980s then assume it DOES have lead in it, and act accordingly. It's my understanding that these sorts of textures can't really be easily sanded and refinished. I am not sure but for a few years I saw this a lot and I feel like it has completely disappeared from renovations or new construction in my area. I am wondering if difficulty in repairing and refinishing have something to do with it.
