Help Cafe Curtain Rings, Rod & Color
Comments (4)Oh Wow, Thanks Jan, That is exactly what I was looking for. I hate the little skinny poles and that's all I was finding. Also the rod you pointed me toward is much longer which is better to hold it tight than only an inch or two beyond what is needed. I will certainly order the black one you showed me. I agree the black would look the best. Oh, I'm also in WI and bored with the snow now. Donna...See MorePlease help me pick fabric for my kitchen cafe curtains.

Comments (27)Agree with Bungalow House and others. My home is rural and casual, and light, airy cafes for a little light control are just right for some of my deep-set double-hungs. Funny the directions people come from. I'm older also and aggravated with myself when I find I'm being influenced (still?!) by whatever the current trend is. :) Joycesvoices, your description of a cafe on top for light control was perfectly clear to me and sounds as if it would look very good. Having seen a whole lot of styles, you know you'd not be breaking any new ground with this by a long shot, but obviously it'd be a whole new look for some. It has the wonderful design virtue of suitability to space and function and would be a happy break from the too-usual. Why not tack up $3 worth of fabric and see what you think? BTW, cafes HAVE been around for some while in the wish-I-could-afford-to-hire-them design market. I've seen them in a bunch of pictures of lovely homes, like the House Beautiful mentioned, and they've been popping up in those commercials that make people like me rewind just to look at the room. (My husband just loves that.)...See MoreKitchen Cafe Curtains
Comments (22)Here are mine, first the kitchen. My uncle boarded up the top half of the tall schoolhouse window when he lowered the ceiling in 1940. So you see wall board instead of the window sash. Then the pantry, where the window sash was left uncovered but the ceiling dropped there as well. It used to be part of a bedroom. I found the curtains at my favorite antique store for like $6. It took me awhile because I wanted just the right colors and amount of fading. I also tried Etsy to find something for the kitchen door that would match and did find a similar pattern but the colors were too bright. Someday I plan to bleach them lighter. I love the curtains at Country Curtains! I buy my sheers from them. The window pane pattern in red is what keeps catching my eye but I don't think I want a red/white/blue kitchen. And the next cafe curtains I buy will have rings, makes it so much easier to open close, esp. if you need to reach over a sink like I do. OT: wwbungalow - I think you have my clock! : )...See MoreRelated Professionals
