I like the toile valance but that said I love bamboo shades. Since you do not need them for privacy, I do not know if there is such a thing as bamboo shades that are faux and do not come down at all. If so maybe that for some of the windows and then the valances in dinette area.

I do like the Regatta.
Your room seems sophisticated to me so I'd go with something along that line or, would you maybe reconsider bamboo blinds and simple drapes?

The sofas in the top picture have been replaced by the camel colored sofa and chair. Paint color will be Windham Cream (I think), a fairly soft yellow.
I'm torn between bamboo blinds and the Regatta valances. I really don't want to deal with drapes. If I could figure out photoshop, I'd try that.
With respect to bamboo blinds, do they add any kind of insulation in winter time? They would be an added benefit.

I have woven wood/bamboo shades through my house. Some are lined, most are not. I can definitely feel a temperature difference with them down. It isn't dramatic, but anything that keeps the sun from bearing down in your living room will help, and I lower them when it's really cold outside. I keep the unlined shades down more often since they aren't room darkening, I don't feel so closed in. I think they would look great with your decor. Mine are all outside mounted because of my double hung windows. I'll try to do a mockup for you to see if you would like them.

There are a lot of colors available in woven woods. This one is more of a medium shade. Some almost look like fabric from across the room, others are more rustic.

Wow, thank you, SallyMo! I would have to outside mount because our window is really shallow. I don't know how much time it takes you to do this, but could you also try the Regatta valances as a mock-up?

Also, both my kids, late teens, early twenties, informed me that the yellow is "for old people's houses" or "looks like pee." Should I reconsider and go with the blue (Healing Aloe)?
