Jim and Allison, thank you both so much since I had no idea there was such a thing as a shade riser. I had been looking in every department store online to see if I could find a local store selling harps. I like the idea that I can go to a lamp store and bring my lamp so I can make sure the height will still look nice with my lamp and the shade. Right now I can see that if the lamp shade is at least 1" higher, it would actually look better as well lessen the 2.75" net height diffence between my two favorite lamps. I know the wall lamps would solve the height difference but I just love the look of these two unique crystal lamps and they have been making me happy the last two days having them in my bedroom. I am now even liking the fact that one lamp will look even bigger than the other lamp but have a shade height closer to the other lamp to balance the diffences in lamp side table heights that add interest to my bedroom.

I agree with Marcolo on visual comfort. My lights were back ordered and they did not even call or email me. I realized that the lights had not arrived and called them and they had some lame excuse like we were not sure about your zip code.. I have the Boston swing arm and it is not as adjustable as I would like. I have the double jointed one but it is kind of tight and hard to adjust. If you are truly looking for a great reading light in bed, I would highly recommend a LED that is Dimmable. It does not get warm and the light throw can be very tight allowing your SO to sleep without the glare of the light. I love the Holtkotter Bernie because the light is just fabulous. My DD's reading nook has it. But for our bedside, I got the Night owl light by lightology. It is 3watts I think. The feedback was that the gooseneck on this is high quality and does not get floppy. Thanks for all the responses everyone! Very interesting to get different opinions. The challenge of trying to find two lamps that are different but also mesh well together was giving me a headache!! Although I like the idea of using different lamps so that things don't look so matchy matchy, I opted to go with identical lamps. I just ordered these from Target (see link below). oceanna, The rose one is a bolster pillow I purchased in a speciality store. It travels all over the living room. Sometimes on the piano stool, sometimes on the sofa and sometimes on the piano chair in the photo. One time put up a thread on how to make a simple bolster pillow. If you like to make pillows do a search. The two pillows with the tapestry (the Spanish dancer and the white Gardenia) first I made the pillows, then hand sewed the tapestry on... then hand sewed on the trim. Then stuffed them...On both these pillows I used the brown velour -- that we used to upholstered the brown chair with in the LR. I bought so much of it, I could make even more pillows with it. None of these pillows are washable. In the LR they get no wear and tear. In the family room, (on the sofa)when they get worn or dirty I make new ones. Ebay has quite a few dog needlepoint tapestries. I have the sweetest little nedlepont pillow from Ebay, that I just added fringe to and it's just precious. The hand made needlepoint is expensive as compared to the printed tapestries, however they are wonderful. I love them.
