DECORATING GUIDESThe Case for In-Between Colors
These mutable hues defy easy description, but their appeal all around the home isn't hard to get
Full StoryHi all,
Still chipping away at paint for my 1750's cape. Currently working on the family room, which is a 35X19 foot space added on in the 1970's. It's a dark room with window trim done in a pear green color, a large brick fireplace with a gray slate hearth and dark barn beams in the ceiling and walls. The ceilings are warm wood beadboard (which I hate but DH refuses to let me paint white/creamy white).
The BM site shows that Beacon Hill Damask and Castleton Mist play nicely with brick reds and dark browns.
I want to avoid clashing with the pear green on the windows (12 over 8s so they are not a small job to paint, and the paint is in good shape from the PO) so I think a hint of green is OK, but I do not want to have the impression that I've got bad fluorescent lights on, if that makes any sense?
Suggestions, experience with these or other colors, or similar rooms, appreciated!
I'd post pics but the room is a disaster right now - mountain of post vacation laundry to fold and toys everywhere.
Thanks!!!
