Scrapbooking recipe books

This may not be a new idea to everyone but I like it. I read somewhere about taking Photo albums that have sleeves to place 4 x 6 pictures in them and filling them with recipes instead. I am typing my recipes on the Avery Label program and printing out the cards on notecards. I can decorate them this way. I am also using some punches to decorate the edges. I have 3 books to make and this is working out great. This is a small way to do a little scrapbooking. I thought I would add some pictures in with the recipes.

This sounds like a great idea!Are you making these as gifts? I wish I had my Grandma's and Mom's recipies to do that with but they never wrote anything down. Thier are some cute stickers that would work really nice in your albums. Good luck with your project!

I am making an 8.5 x 11 postbound one called "Vintage Family Recipes." I decided to feature each woman in the family that my son is directly descended from. I include a snapshot of the woman, a little family tree diagram showing the line of descent, two or three family favorite recipes from that woman, and my own personal journaling about her. I plan to include my paternal and maternal grandmothers, my husband's paternal and maternal grandmothers, my mother, my husband's mother, and myself. I think that about covers everyone, right? LOL It's a fun project. So far I have three pages done. No deadline, as it's just for me.

Search Update!!! What luck; I found the duck ...recipe. My "Drunken Duck" recipe has re-appeared today! Happy Dance!!! It was in an old file box I'm slowly clearing out. I wonder what other jewels may surface? I had made two copies of this recipe from a library book and then put both copies in the same place. What was I thinking? The book - a history review of cooking, restaurants, and recipes of the late 1800s - came from the Dover, DE, Library. I think it was long out of print when I checked it out in 1992. The dinner is called "Positively Ducky, A Small Spring Dinner for Four." It's Chapter 29 of the book and begins on page 305. Apparently the recipes were broken down into seasons and the duck recipe came under "Spring." I know everything about this book - except the title and author. I had made photo copies of the pages, stapled them together, and did not bother to reference the book, author, or publisher on the pages. Again, what was I thinking? The menu for this dinner is includes... Crisp Savory Almonds Chilled Spring Green Soup Aromatic Duck (which I named Drunk Duck; it's soaked in Brandy) Gingered Red Cabbage Slaw Fresh Grapefruit Gelatin with Cream I won't copy all the instructions right now - I have birthday treats to prepare - but the marinade/rub for the 5 lb. duck includes... 2 teaspoons black peppercorns 1 teaspoon dried thyme 2 bay leaves, crumbled 6 whole cloves 1 Tbls. coarse Kosher salt 1 Tbls. brown sugar 1 Tbls. gin, vodka, or brandy 1 garlic clove, peeled I am so thankful I found this recipe. A copy will be put in my computer; my friends will have emailed copies, a paper copy will go in a proper file folder and cabinet, and another copy will go in my Betty Crocker cookbook. My ducks will never be served sober again!

Use a photo album and then they would be protected. I have mine in vinyl covers and it works great. I just use a notebook and take the page out that I need and any drips can be wiped off and put right back into the book.

200 Great Scrapbook Layout Ideas by Creative Concepts...I have 2 books, they are spiral bound (easy to fold and work from); each page is just sample sb pages (the 2nd book I got is good because it lists the supplies used for each page); it's layout is by category so it's easy to find ideas.....no words or articles, just many, many good ideas!!

If you wanted to make copies of this cookbook to give out as gifts for the family, how would you do that? (Should I give up the idea of color cookbooks and just stick with black and white? :(

I'm trying to get a couple of scrapbooking pages per person (they put it together) and would like a family recipe scrapbook cookbook. Probably talking 70 pages and about that many copies also. Any ideas?
