water under the house we are buying

So we are almost through this house buying business with the exception of one thing: a 1" deep pool of water under the house in the crawlspace under the kitchen/utility room. The crawlspace in this area was excavated to allow for the plumbing and is about 2 feet lower than the crawlspace underneath the rest of the home.

While our home inspector was largely impressed with the condition of the house (no squeaks! good windows! great roof! stickbuilt 2x10 construction!), he did say the water issue was an issue. He did not find any leaks coming from the plumbing system, but thought it was something that we needed to clear up - as in, why is there water under the house?

The sellers had a drainage person take their video camera down into the underground pipes and did not find a source of water.

They also said that their sprinkler system is not hooked up to a water source, so there isn't a likely leak there.

They believe the source of the water is from Mother Nature, and the migration of water flowing to the lowest point. The water is not near to touching wood, and the drainage person isn't worried.

Would you be?

I appreciate your help!
