Best Circle Cutter to Purchase??

What is the best Circle Cutter in your opinion?

I purchased a Making Memories Circle Cutter and it doesn't work as well as I thought it would, maybe it takes a while to get the hang of how to operate it. Anyone else with these problems? What Circle Cutter is the best?

I have the fiskers circle cutter and really don't use it that much. I find it a little hard to use and if you don't apply a lot of pressure the paper slips and you end up with a bad cut. I have heard other rave on it though so perhaps I just need more pratice. If I was going to do it all over again I think I would just buy the nested circle templates by coluzzle, everyone seems to love them and say they are easy to use. Penny

I bought the Coluzzle oval kit at Michaels this weekend. I love it. I went back and got the circle and the star shape. It works great. I used my Michael's 40% off coupon. My daughter is getting married and I bought extra Sunday papers for the engagement picture so I had several coupons. I am a new scrapbooker but I am really getting into it. Jackie

Now that's weird: I first saw this site when surfing with my Droid phone. It allowed me to post a reply WITHOUT making me join the forum. I'm the Lane Dexter above. Then I went back to this discussion thread from a PC at work. It wouldn't let me post until I joined. I would not let me use Lane Dexter (my name), so I tried Hamilton Felix and it refused. Then I tried HamiltonFelix (no space) at it accepted. So after considerable runaround (initial membership confirmation said I had to log in as Lane), I'm a member. Yay. I still want a heavy duty brushcutter/clearing saw. I want to use a 10" blade, with as few teeth as I can; one doesn't like filing any more than necessary. I sure wish I could still find a Homelite XL in good shape, but it's a bummer when your favorite tools are only listed under "vintage" or "collectors" sites. Sounds like I'm stuck with buying something that locks me into their proprietary blades. I suppose the biggest Stihl is my best bet.

Linda - absolutely make sure you cut on the straight of grain with the selvage edge running parallel to the side of the "GO". This is especially important for the 6/2" square and larger dies. The squares will be slightly smaller if you cut with the selvage edge parallel to the roller. I cut 48 squares, using Kona, before I discovered they were not accurate. I contacted Accuquilt who informed me this was operator error (ME). I am disenchanted with my Go as a result. There is a Yahoo group you should join for more info you can read in a lifetime~lol~ also sign up for the Accuquilt newsletter on the Go site. I am anxious to see how you use it.

Thank you for all the info. I purchased the Creative Memories Cutting System with oval today. I haven't used it but I'll start in this weekend. I found a consultant on the Creative Memories website for my area. Very nice woman and helpful. The cost was $38.00 plus tax. She left me a catalog for other interests I might have. She asked if I was interested in classes, etc. and at this time I'm not. She was fine with that. Good experience. Can't wait to try my new tools.

Hi Fran...I never could get the cutters to work right....I have several and probably the one that you have. You hold down on the middle and then cut your circle around it...while holding down firmly...never works. I did succeed, however, in cutting a half circle on my table top one time, though. I haven't found one yet that works well...Deanna

I have the Circle Scissors by EK Success. You can get them at WalMart for about $14, I think. (I was lucky enough to get mine as a present, so I'm not positive on the price!) It took a little getting used to, but it works very well! You basically stick the tiny blade (which comes sort of like a pen or exacto knife...and also comes with refills) into a slot on the circle template and rotate it. Viola! I think the trick is not to apply so much pressure. It's also flat and compact so it's easy to store.
