I like them! I'm a sucker for things like that. I think hanging some paintings or mirrors from them would be neat.

Alex thank you for you opinion and the link. I love your idea about hanging paintings from them! I am going to try that with some photos. My son love photography and i am always looking for neat ways to display it. Actually I love repurposed things too I just took an old dresser and did some painting and had a Barnwood top made for it in my kitchen. That's why I am looking to replace the doors with old ones in the first place. Here is a photo of my new (well actually very old) island.

I like the concept, but there is something about two doors behind two chairs that I don't like. Maybe one door mounted on its side and centered between the chairs?

Thanks graywings. I am not sure what you mean placing it on its side. Do you mean hanging it higher up on the wall lengthwise or placing it on the floor. I am going to try all suggestions but i just need to be sure I understand. Thanks again for the input!

I love old doors (actually I love a lot of old things!) but perhaps you could try putting them together in the center of the wall and hang the painting from them. I think it might be a more cohesive arrangement.

Here is a picture of them as you enter the room. I have taken Alex's suggestion and hung a photo box on one just to get the idea.

Thanks luckygal! I just took your suggestion combined with Alex's and here is the result! It looks much better! I will need another picture for the other door but that is easy. The only problem in the future is that i was going to put a freestanding gas stove in the middle but maybe I can still do that and just vent it up instead if out the back wall?

I REALLY (and I must emphasize the "REALLY") like the doors. Then again, I have a few old cypress doors I bought for $5 each, one of which I stripped and made into a king-size headboard, so I guess I have a bit of a "thing" for conventional items being used unconventionally. I really love your doors, and I think I actually prefer the look of the 1st pic - separate with nothing on them.

My house came with a pair of Eastlake-era doors wasting away in the barn. The beautiful glass is broken, and they have some ugly modern hardware, but still have the doorbell. I am using them in a similar fashion in my barn office, possibly ti cover a Murphy bed.

I really like the doors and I'm all about using salvage materials, but something seems off In the first picture. I think it's a cabinet under the picture frame. You need something more substantial and wider.

Sorry, but they look to me like you are storing old doors behind the chairs. I personally don't think they are decorative enough to be put on display like that.
I like the idea of them becoming something. Like Ashs mentioned, a headboard. (Or a tabletop?)

I like them, and it seems you enjoy recycled wood and use it in your home. In the first picture, they make a warm, lovely background to the rest of the room.

There's also something off for me too. Maybe as Ellendi said, they're not decorative enough. They don't look rustic to me, maybe that's it?

If you decide to use them I like the doors side by side the best. When there's space between them like the first picture, it looks like they're regular doors with rooms behind them.

Could you hinge them together and make a 'screen' that stands with them? If you stood it with the doors at 90 degree angles to each other, it would be a perfect backdrop for a small table and lamp, etc... They might integrate better in a room that way, as part of a 'tableau'. The 'screen' could also be moved around if wanted and small pictures hung on it still, as you had planned when they were up against the wall.

I was also thinking they'd make a nice screen. Another option would be to use one sideways as a headboard. I think they could also work well outside in a patio, perhaps for an outdoor storage cabinet?
