What type of glue....

What is the best way to adhere pictures, die-cuts, lettering, etc onto memory pages? (If they aren't self-stick, that is) Should I use glue, 2-sided tape, what? I made my first memory page yesterday for a friend who just had a baby, and the glue caused the page to become wrinkly, like it got wet. :o( It did say safe to use. TIA

I use the tape roller from Cre@tive Mem0ries. Sounds like it is too wet with the glue you are using. I used some glue dots last night, and they were pretty good. There are various tapers available, or there's tape in a box that you just pull out.

GE Silicone II - the sealant for indoor/outdoor use. I've used it to adhere glass to plastic, rocks to wood and plastic and glass, glass to glass, ceramic and porcelain to wood and plastic and metal, etc. You name it, I've used it! I used it on a piece which I mosaiced and placed outside and forgot to bring in for the winter. The porcelain pieces are still stuck to the wood, but the wood warped and the grout has broken in some places. Tried to pry some of the pieces off yesterday, but they are on there for good!

They don't make mortar in a tube because mortar is like a 2 part epoxy, once mixed with water the reaction starts and it sets up, even if under water. A 10 lb bag of mortar is about $2 here. But of course you can use any glue you like. Just a question of cost, mess, how long it lasts, whether it'll hold the rock on a vertical surface while it cures or needs bracing, etc. Everything is a trade off. But for the past 200 years portland cement mortar has been the king. Nothing today even comes close. DIYers do seem prefer more expensive and harder to use glues, but that's just inexperience. Rub the mortar on the rock and the wall first to to clean the surface and get a good bond. Don't mix the mortar too wet, should be like mashed potatoes. After mixing let the mortar set for 10-15 minutes and then mix once more and it's ready. One reason mortar is so popular is something DIYers rarely think about, tear down and repair. Mortar doesn't like vibration, so a few taps with a chisel and off it comes. Glue is forever.

It is much easier to buy a new valve, separate it and install the center part which is damaged. There are 4 screws. Don't slam Spa Parts Plus. They are a wholesaler and are dropping the shipment to their customer. That is a lousy way of doing business. In the future, order from a local guy who can get the same part locally or through a distributor such as SPP. That new valve will not run much. Drain the spa, replace it when there is no water gushing all over the place. No glue required.

E6000 would be my glue of choice. It will glue everything to anything and it works great on terra cotta. (For future use it's also weatherproof so it's great for gluing outdoor hard-to-glue surfaces) For starters I would have glued the knob on before painting. The problem you might encounter depending on the amount of paint you used is that the knob will not be glued directly to the terra cotta but to the paint layer that you covered it with. There is a possibility after constant lifting up on the knob that the paint could peel off the terra cotta surface causing the knob to come off. The E6000 will still work but next time you might want to leave a small unpainted area where you are going to glue the knob to make sure it will be secure when dry. If you can I would try to either sand the paint down or at least rough up that area where you are going to glue the knob and touch up around it when it's dry. The E6000 is paintable.

Thanks all. I'll have to look for some tape this week. I do have some of the dots but wasn't sure if they would hold up for any period of time.

FYI: I faithfully used the tape roller from Cre@tive Mem0ries for a few years. I thought what a great idea. It was easy to use and A friend of mine sold Cre@tive MemOries and swore by it. So I went to a class. At the class we were told that clue sticks etc. would not hold up. So I purchased a bunch of stuff including 1 album and this tape. We used this album and tape to do our wedding pictures. After a few years the scrapbook was falling apart. As well as other scrapbooks I had done using this tape. I thought anything is better than this tape.
Well there is a glue stick made by elmers called
"Craft Bond: acid free extra strength glue stick. goes on blue dries clear."
and
"Zig 2 way glue. Wet bond perminant. Dry bond temporary."
With the 2 way glue you have to work quick so that it does not dry to quickly. I make sure that it is blue before I apply the picture paper to the scrapbook and it stays put. It says that it is temporary when you let it dry clear and it is. So I lay out my page and know where I want everything and work quickly with the glue so the pictures (etc.) stays put. Anyway I redid my pages using the elmers. and using the 2-way glue, mainly for small items, and I have not had a problem since. I have done all my scapbooks with these 2 glues and have not had any problems.
When I first started using the other glues I would get the wrinkled pages also. I learned I just needed to put the glue in the corners and have not had a problem since. Also you might try a hevier paper. They carry some great Heavy weight solid & patterned and design paper at http://www.momandme.com/.
P.S. I had the same problem with the dots as I had with the tape. And I did follow the directions.
