That height is 12 inches. I've fine tuned that over the years. Frogs, birds, snakes, squirrels and what not can move in and out under the net but herons cannnot figure it out. They are too tall to go under it and if pulled firmly they cannot spear the fish through it. No sagging. Attach the net to a framework built for it rather than hodgepodge use of bricks, sticks, etc. The net is the only thing that will keep a heron out 100%. In the fall, when leaves fall lower the net a bit on the prevaling winds side of your pond to keep leaves out if that is a problem in your location. If pulled snugly leaves that land on the top will blow away. I will warn you that I do get the occasional bird (Grackles do this and not others) that will walk under the net and then panic to flight if something scares it and it will hit the net and not take off. 99% of the time after a few attempts they make their way out unharmed, but I did have one drowning in the past year of a young Grackle (but not a baby).

There is a common term "squirrely" and a few years ago I learned where it comes from. This spring also. I have a large Grecian urn as a feature in my new garden under a Black Walnut tree. I watched a squirrely squirrel jump from the urn to my Krossa Regal and back over and over again until my hosta was flattened. It was enjoying itself until I unleashed my German Shorthaired Pointer on it. They love bombing my things with walnuts, but I have never seen them eat a hosta. What they do is when they smell recently disturbed dirt they dig looking for burried nuts so they might uproot newly planted hostas. I wonder if some pressed garlic will discourage this? Les

I just checked on the fish this morning and I dont see anymore dead one's. They are still all covered in the spots and the weather has gotten very chilly and rainy. Does anyone know if the treatment will work when the temp in the pond is around 50? Also, on the bottle it says that I can treat for 3 days in a row should i treat today when it is cold and raining? How long does it take for the spots on the fish to go away? Thanks in advance for any advice that you can give

Impossible to assess exactly what's going on from that long distance photo. But my first suggestions would be: 1) you need a more pronounced diverter, and 2) you need to be sure that that long, brown strip along the roof line is fully caulked for its whole length. It's also not clear if there is an eave above protecting the gutter end but, regardless, you are likely to have some problem whenever there is wind-blown rain against that wall.
