srahndennis - I chuckled a little when I read this, but certainly not at you ... it's because I was doing the same questioning of my choice (like I've done with so many other things in this kitchen reno =)

I'm the opposite of you though - I originally wanted a deep brown sink because I have cream cabinets with a cafe dry brushing/light glaze and antique bronze handles. My granite is darker - has mostly deep browns, some black/creams/silver and slight splashes of dark coppery orange. But when I saw the Silgranit cafe in person, the brown didn't look rich enough for the browns in my granite (it actually looked like a dusty brown (it could have been that the sink was actually dusty instead though - lol) So I went with the anthracite since I have black in my granite too (and in parts of the ss appliances).

With a colored sink, I'm of the thought that the sink looks best when it blends, rather than contrasts, with the counter (ss is an exception as it is so standard it always works). I think in our cases either one would work, but the cafe may work better for you since you have a lighter granite. It's hard to say without seeing it, but I think it may give you a softer flow than the black. And the appliances will then pull the slight blacks from your counter.

I got samples from Blanco of anthracite, cafe brown and biscotti to use when I looked at granites. I was surprised how many grnaites the cafe brown looked good with because in the showroom it does not always look rich. The anthracite did not match/coordinate with as many since it is a dusty black and most black in granites looked sharp and shiny. The biscotti did not match any of the ones I liked. I think you will be fine with the cafe brown.

littleitaly -- thanks for answering. I was actually thinking about you this morning as I anguished, wondering if you were doing the same thing! Everyone at work assures me that it will look fine, too, so I think I will leave it. I do love the brown sink! I can move the small appliances around if it really bugs me.

Have you seen the vrown installed with a granite that has a lot of brown in it? It looks great! And I think the sink should match the counter it's in, not the other finishes in the room.

Unless you specifically want a black look? If you have all those black smalls because you love a black look, maybe you'd love the sink better if it looks blackish? If they're black because that's what they make, and you can always find a black to add something in (unlike "designer" colors which come and go) then why succumb on something that isn't going anywhere, like your sink?

I always say you can make anything work in design if you can make it follow a rule. Your rule for the brown sink would be "black for appliances". If you can't plug it in, it isn't black.

I got samples as well but not of the black --- had no intention of getting a black sink! I got the biscuit, truffle, biscotti and cafe brown. Cafe brown looked the nicest by far. The biscotti would work, too, but it lacked the richness of the cafe brown. And I wanted the sink to blend more than stand out.

I have black appliances now so I never really thought about all the black in my small appliances. They just match.

Plllog - I like your idea about the rule and it would definately work in my kitchen! If it really bugs me, I can put some of the stuff away.
