What is your most used template?

What if any is your most used template? I rarely use the ones I have that are word bubbles, but I really like the ones that are of different shapes esp. the baby ones, like baby bottles, etc. I also use my journaling geines a lot, but usually just the straight lines, I need to pratice using the others. Penny

I use the journaling genies also, but I think the one I use the most is my "scrapbook letters" alphabet template!

I'm boring...I almost always grab for the ovals. Have others that I use, but most of the pics I take seem to crop better into an oval.

Don't want to sound like a wiseguy, but my most used is---everything. I don't keep stuff that doesn't get used often, because I have no storage room to spare. Probably the cast ironware gets a slight nod, though, followed by the stainless skillets and pots. Then the bakeware. The wok is an exception. It doesn't get used as often as it should. But nothing cooks like a wok, and when you need one nothing really subs. So it sits there, taking up more space than I can spare. I don't use non-stick cookware (other than the cured cast-iron) and there's none of it in the house. Other than a microwave I don't own any of the appliences you mention. I keep trying to talk myself into a bamboo steamer, but I know I won't use it enough to justify the space it would take up.

We use the 3qrt and 1 1/2 qrt copper/stainless Dansk saucepans just about everyday. Along with a 10 1/2" Wagners's cast iron chicken fryer. A 12" Tri-Ply frying pan rounds out our most used cookware. When we steam fish or veggies we use our old carbon steel wok and a bamboo steamer set inside it. We are doing a lot more steam cooking lately. Interesting to see that a lot of cooks don't just buy sets of cookware. There is mixing of this and that brand. Holds true to what I have been seeing in the cooking store I work in. People are buying pieces instead of sets of cookware. Which I think is the way to go. Whenever a customer comes into the store and wants to buy a whole set of cookware the first question I ask is will you use all the pieces included in the box? Don't spend money on things you won't use all that frequently. NancyLouise

What do you use your KA mixer for the most?

chas045, thank you! I've probably had mine for over 15 years. I've read the manual and I've gone on line to look. My plan was to contact KA and ask, but I couldn't find a contact us button on the site to ask when I finally remembered to go and look. I do use it for bread, but have always wondered if I was using the correct speed. I love the easy bread recipe my DD gave me, which can be stirred together by hand or with the mixer. As I can't stir anything like that, the mixer it is. I have a bread machine, but seldom use it. It's good in the winter since my kitchen stays colder than the rest of the house, but I still like my KA better for bread. I also use it for cookies and cakes, and grinding hamburger. I never thought of using it to make my own mixes! I need to find some recipes for that. Tami

My absolute favorite lately has been The New Basics Cookbook--notes I wrote in the margins say OMG!! and Awesome! which is not what I usually write. I love those group cookbooks from churches, schools, and special groups. I love some of the little cookbooks I've bought at the grocery store checkout. I often refer to the web or my files of recipes that I've collected from newspapers and magazines. +The Betty Crocker Cookbook binder that my mom gave me as a wedding shower gift. +Betty Crocker's New Boys and Girls Cook Book--a gift from my parents for my 8th birthday. I still refer to it! I'm trying to use my appliances more so have discovered these great books: +The Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook +Better Homes and Gardens Crockery Cookbook +The Cast Iron Skillet Cookbook (johnliu you had me laughing so hard!! I use the primary shapes the most - circle, square, heart, and oval. Every once in a while I go crazy and use a star shape!!

I like most of the shapes that come on the CM templates, I also like to adjust them(ie the square that comes in at the corners, sometimes I like to strech it other times shrink it) But I would say my least used it the star. it just doesn't seem to go well on many pictures, though I have used it.

Molly, the journaling genies are different template shapes with lines that you trace onto your page and then use to journal. It creates a nice added touch instead of just "straight line" writing. They have some for every occasion: a "splash", cloud, fancy frame, titles...check out the link below for their complete line.. Hilary
