Repairing Washer

I have an 8 year old Kenmore/Whirlpool TL. I recently got the spin repaired and now I just noticed that water (lots) is leaking down the inside of the front when it fills to mix the detergent (it may also be leaking out the back when it fills but I am not sure). Is this simply some hose that is torn and needs replacement or is this more serious? I would probably toss it but I would prefer not to get a new machine after I spent 135 to fix it 3 months ago but if the repair is expensive (over 150) I might. If you think its a hose, where should I look? Could I do the replacement?

It could be leaking from a number of places like the bottom of the basin, over topping the basket, or at the supply. Does it only leak during filling?

You really need to see it leaking to identify the problem.

Anytime you call a repairman it will cost $100+. If you can't troubleshoot it yourself you might consider buying a new one.

Post this on the Appliance forum, they might have better suggestions.

You could get lucky and find a bad hose clamp, or a split hose, and do the repair yourself for less than 20 dollars. Just make sure that you unplug the machine from the wall outlet before you open it up. If there is water internally, where its not supposed to be, it will have to be dried out before the washer is powered up and tested.

You could have fun with this... Since a company gets charged about $1.00 per call for 800 number service everyone reading this post could call the number to vent their disappointment that a company seeking business would so blatantly disregard rules that it must also be considered that their business practice encourages cheating customers. Maybe a few hundred dollars in phone charges would change their minds on how they choose to advertise.

turned out to be a hose. regular repairman told me to toss it because the fill area is an expensive repair. Had someone in today to look at fridge which has an extended warranty and he found the leaky hose
