I love the idea of the custom backsplash tiles!

Could he make custom SS panels for appliances for people who want to update their kitchens without replacing the appliances? Powder-coated versions of these in various colors would be great, too.

He should hook up with a local design showroom for custom work and to display some of it. I'd personally kill for a powder coated "skin" that could transform my stainless fridge to hot tamale red or cool school cobalt or fine lime green! If he could do the high temp powder coating to match for panels for ranges, that'd be uber uber!

I can see a big GW business out of custom vent hoods! How about doors/drawer fronts for people who want to update exisitng kitchens without a total reno. Definitely panels for DW or frig applications. Could he do frames for chairs or bar stools that someone could just add a seat and cushion? Outdoor kitchen area applications... how do powder coated prep sinks hold up? Made to match a color in the color or to match a range hood? Just thinking out loud for a change...

As one who has a custom red powdercoated range hood to match my red enameled range, I know for sure that there is a definite market out there for powdercoated panels, tiles, range hoods, etc. Some of us appreciate the functionality of metal but prefer a metal option that is not stainless steel (for a change). Powdercoated metals can satisfy those twin desires. Also, LWO is definitely onto something when she points out that some might be able to update appliances with powdercoated panels. Others might also be more willing to try "colored" appliances without the fear of being permanently locked into that choice.

I would love a custom hood. Marthavilla, I agree RED!
I would be a customer.
And metal lined kitchen drawers. I am in.
Okay those don't have to be red but I like the idea.
Kitchen hardware, lighting fixtures, pot racks,
pantry shelves, backsplashes that are painted metal...

A SS skin for my white fridge - yes, please! Or even better, a color. I would love a powder-coated skin to dress up my appliances. That would be fun!

I have searched for (and seen searches for) a stainless appliance garage - they make them in Europe, but can't ship them here. I think a stainless frame which would accept either a door or tambour would be great.

Current options available on ss farmhouse sinks are boring, consider some customizable options like you can get with copper. Corrugated look fronts, quilted look with diagonal squares that you can usually only get in commercial applications, all types of geometric patterns could work, also powder coat insets for color.

Remodelfla, yes, powder coating can withstand the elements and would be perfect for an outdoor kitchen application (and I love the idea).

Boxerpups, my old kitchen had a metal lined drawer and I miss it, the perfect bread box!

I totally agree - a stainless panel for the front of my dishwasher... (or as other people have said, other appliances). That would be a huge market. I'd be happy to be a guinea pig! Priscilla

I just got a quote for stainless counters and if you don't mind, i'd love to be able to get a comparison as to what your DH would charge to see if the quote is "reasonable".

I'm looking at 2 counters, each 5.75 feet long. One of the counters will have a fully integrated sink(24X18X8). The stainless is 16 gauge.

Not only does it contain a photo of my red range hood, but also Redrange's red hood (she was my inspiration for a red range and hood!) and KLB_2000's great hood that is powdercoated white. There are wonderful examples of stainless steel hoods in that thread as well.

Hi! I also think an insert for the inside of a cabinet door, with rails, or hooks is a great idea. I had a friend who was an artist who always had his artwork on the inside of his cabinet doors so when they were open, you'd see something interesting.

I've always loved the backsplash at the link below. Once you get to the website, go to "SHOWROOM", and then, page 11. The backsplash is a steel repouse of a leaf, it isn't stainless so I'm not sure if it would be in the range of metals your DH works. I've done many google searches to try to find an artist or retailer that does such work. I've never really found anyone.

My friend just redid her kitchen in the sort of greyish white that is very popular now. She had SS doors made for her above fridge cabinet and above the double ovens as well - it looked great.

Powder-coated appliance panels in a range of colors from retro pastels to modern deep colors would be huge -- I know so many folks who are tempted by the retro-styled SMEG and Heartland appliances, only to regretfully pass them up for larger, better-rated models that are big hulking chunks of stainless or black plastic. Probably the one biggest complaint you read on this forum over and over is the lack of choice in appliance color.

Take note of how Frigo design does it with their appliance panels, perhaps? Something similar, except in durable powder-coating, would be grand.

If it were possible to match my fridge and/or dishwasher (and range hood!) to my vintage yellow-and-white enameled stove, I'd be in heaven.
