Sneak Peak at the Tiles.....(that I won)
Comments (28)bkw, centering the pattern in the doorway is definitely kosher tilesetting--don't know what you mean. I was just impressed that somehow it seemed that you were able to snug it right up to the wall and end on whole tiles -- wondering whether it involved taking a few rows off the mesh and spacing them yourselves to take up any slack, or whether it just laid this way naturally. Which would be amazing....See MoreIf You Have Marble....Puleeeeze.......
Comments (21)Ahhh! Ok! You got me there, hadn't thought of that and very glad you did! I also forgot to suggest water and alcohol if you prefer a simple home made remedy. I use this a lot on my floors and counters as well and is also recommended for both marble and mirrors. If you do an internet search you'll see a lot of professionals suggest it. This is a snippet from one site I found. , Marble and Other Stone Countertops Granite, marble and other stone countertops can be cleaned beautifully with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and water. Mix 1 part water with 1 part alcohol in a spray bottle and then spray it on the surface and wipe clean. The alcohol will help to disinfect the surface and will leave your countertops shiny and beautiful. If you prefer you can use vodka in place of the rubbing alcohol. Do not use acidic cleaners like vinegar on stone countertops since they can etch the surface....See MoreTo Marble or not to Marble...that is the question?
Comments (14)You can have your marble rehoned in place. I have about 145 sq ft in my kitchen. I had to be rehoned after installation because the original fabricator did a lousy honing job. it's a wet process, but the crew taped and tarped everything up. they cleaned up very, very well...you couldn't tell it was done. I have a lot of marble...I think the cost to rehone was about $2,500. So...I say, get it live in it and forget about it. The etching won't ever really bother you unless you dump a whole bottle of vinegar on the counter. If you feel you must do something to sell your house at a later date, then have the marble rehoned. Not a big deal. I have had my marble for six years, beginning when my four kids were 4-10 years old. We all LIVE in the kitchen. I have a few etch marks, but not anything anyone else would notice. I love my marble and would easily do it again. I have one chip where DH tossed his car keys onto the counter. Very small. I have deep ogee edges (the easiest to chip) and I don't have any issues on my edges or around my sink. Good luck with your process!...See Morei sneaked a peak
Comments (25)lol cotehele...i convinced dh into that small vanity with a promise of two of my drawers (sure they're two apothacary drawers but he didn't specify so tough) :p the croc top there isn't a counter top...thats the top of the undermounted tub which is 32" deep. the counters will be crema marfil :) his cabinet did grow a bit from this old drawing. his sink nd mine are bumped out to 27" (the balance are 24") and on the side f the bump there are angled spice fillers for things like hairspray, shaving cream, all that goober. he also gets his own little toe kick drawer...see how spoiled he is :) (and he got the toilet of his dreams so all is well LOL)...See Morermkitchen
