Punk, our garage sales start in April & go thru October here. In the spring, entire subdivisions will have them & there will be 30 to 50 houses participating. I love these cause it's like a "one stop shop". Those are fun, after the end of May, the big subdivision sales end & then it's all individual & you have to drive all over the place to find them. They usually go to the end of Oct. unless we have an early cold spell & they may end a bit early in Oct. I was surprised today, as our GW usually doesn't have that much in table decor. Mine is about 15 mins away, right by our big mall. There are two other thrift stores in that town too, but I don't go to them very often, they are pretty messy & my gkids refuse to go in them with me. They are messy but our GW is pretty clean & neat. LOL LOL

I happened upon 4 footed dessert glass pcs while browsing @ Goodwill last yr ...for $1 each .... whoa, I grabbed those 'babies' smiling all the way to the check-out! Here they are displayed on a glass cake plate in my kitchen...I also added 2 beautiful glass ornaments w/silver stripes (you can see one in the front right glass) & 2 silver bird napkin rings: On this same counter (by my countertop stove) is this 'tin' I found @ Hobby Lobby a couple yrs ago ...using my 40% off coupon ~~ plus another 'chunky pottery snowman' ...did I say I just love this guys! ;-) The small blue crock I found in a consignment store a few yrs ago, too: Above this area kitchen area is my 'end cupboard' which I am always 'changing up' ... these 2 snowmen prints I just bought a few mos ago ... aren't they just adorable! I did buy these 'new' but the price was right! I'll still be adding a few vintage Christmas postcards to the black mirror hanging: You may have noticed that little shelf w/snowmen...here's a closer view... hubby made that shelf from old barnwood a long time ago... a few yrs back I painted it a creamy white. Can you tell I love snowmen!!! Ok, I've rattled on ... we sure have fun, don't we! TFLookin'! Jeanne S.

I mostly find receipts and other random bits of paper in books, but I do have a few nice bookmarks and a bunch of postcards from books I have bought second hand, as well as several boarding passes that I have left inside the books. The most interesting stuff I have found in books has been inside library books. It includes several photographs (which I handed to the librarians) and money (which I kept). The 2 most interesting things I have found came from the same book. It had been gifted (circa 1950) to one of the libraries that came together to form the National and University Library of Iceland and had probably not been opened since. Inside were a Blackwell's (bookshop in Oxford) newsletter from (I think) the late 40s and a hand-written letter. I left them both inside.
