The meeting is called to order, and a hush falls over the sober crowd, as the newest member brushes away a stray piece of photo tape, off her pants leg, as she stands, to confess her sins: "Hello, my name is Penny, and I am a scrapaholic." This, is of course no surprise to the other members, who have also at one time or another confessed to the same sin, and understand her torture. Penny continues, and the group leans closer to hear every pathetic word, some with a look of understanding, others with a merciless gleam in their eyes, as she bares her soul, and describes the painful aspects of her addiction: "It all started with a simple scrapbook, and a few page protectors, just a couple dollars a month habit, now it has turned into a room full of supplies, and a bank note." Several "amen sisters", can be heard among the crowd of onlookers. "I have no way of stopping, and I have just gotten the new catalog from Provo Craft!", she cries. The room now falls into a buzz of voices, as each of them secretly decide to ask for a copy of the catalog, as soon as they get back to their own emails, all the while proclaiming loudly to each other the downfall of such a practice. The meeting is stopped for a snack, and as one member reaches into her purse to pay her dues, a pair of curved scissors falls from her purse, declaring for all just how far she has back slid into her addiction. After such news, a surprise parking lot search is conducted, and Mar is duly chastised as a package of die cuts is found in her car's glovebox. Hanging her head, she finally admits that she has again, entered into yet another swap with a fellow addict. The members unanimously decide to split the offending objects amongst each other as her punishment. Mars, eyes begin to water as she watches her "fix" being spread out amongst the junkies on hand. Finally the meeting is called to a close, and everyone prays for the safe keeping of their scrapbooks, and as an after thought their families are included in the

prayers. The members disperse, and Mar is secretly smiling, because she knows they didn't find the stash of acid free papers hid under her car seat. Penny

Greg and Joan, I'm looking forward to more pics from you two! Golden Pagoda is intriguing. You don't see that one much, and I bet it gets very prominent points in the Houston heat. Joan, maybe you hire a little crew of teenagers every Spring Break to help you out with those 200 trees! Can't wait to see the blooms that are developing here, and you bet I'll post when I get a chance. Robert, that Lemon Drop is Thornton's and one of only a few big ones I have. It's certainly the "branchiest". That's what you can look forward to in a few more years! Bill, our little guy gets us invited back to a lot of places! We would all love to go back to CA soon. Will definitely let you know if we get a chance. K, glad the seeds are coming up for you; they're the perfect flowers for a Texas drought! Yes, that is TLD on the tree because my memory is just THAT bad, lol. Sometimes I abbreviate and then ask myself, "Now what the heck does that stand for again?" Dave, thanks for the compliments! I'm in Austin. We're 8b but I've seen at least one big plumeria tree kept in the ground all winter in my neighborhood. It can be done in a sheltered spot with frost cloth since our freezes are all short-lived. Mike, I found another possible oh-please-let-it-be inflo today, so I feel like I won the lottery! Hope you also have a great bloom year!

When I bought my house, the realtor drove me around. But then again I met her through an organization we were both part of, even though we weren't especially friends. I was glad we drove around together because it enabled more frank conversation and spontaneous questions. (And some laughter after the House with The Indiana Jones stairway down into the basement, or after escaping the House with the Severely Bowed Roof, which we hadn't noticed until we had crossed through it and were out on the deck.) She was willing to show me the neighborhoods, too. When I hunted for the land I'm currently building on, the realtor just gave me the address and I went on my own - she never showed up at all. (I met her when I first signed up with her, and just once after. She hadn't indicated at our first meeting that she'd not actually be walking these properties with me.)

I have one of the West Elm trays too (mine is teal)... I've had it at least 7 yr and am pretty happy with it but don't let it sit in water (not that you would!). Mine was accidentally left outside (under a covered patio) during an overnight storm and it did get wet. By the time I discovered it, the finish had lifted a bit. My error.. but wanted to give you the head's up. It is obviously not intended for outdoor use and normally, I wouldn't have let it sit outside. I love the champagne finish!

Still laughing! I've read this a couple of different days just because it is SO funny and TOO close to home for this scrapbooker! After a quick stop at the craft store for ONE (ya, sure) item, I quickly store away my purchases before anyone notices--also picked up another storage container with drawers to make sure I had room for the NEW STUFF! As I confess that I, too, am hooked, I am picking adhesive from my fingers (new acid free, 2-way glue stick) and planning a layout for the pictures of grandbaby and his box of kleenix!!

Also, I appreciate your good tips, Penny! Love your sense of humor and your ability to express it!!!

This is funny! How many of you hide your scrapbook purchases from your DH (or significant other)? I must definitely confess to this one! Does this mean I'm addicted?

Hide is such a strong word...how about neglect to mention the trip to the scrapbooking store and the supplies that just happen to jump into your cart. Of course if one is smart you immediately put the supplies away. "What did you do today?" your response..."Nothing, dear" :)!

I admit I hide my scrapbooking goodies from my DH. I also never leave the scrapbook store with a reciept...unless I am not sure about about liking an item....the lady at the store laughs at me...( and I am not the only one....) My husband is good at finding receipt....or I am lossy at hiding them. So I also trash them! I always buy with cash....it hard to explain a check written to the SB store to my DH. I sneak my goodies into the house and put them with my other supplies...and if he ask....Oh, I've had them for awhile!!! ( with my fingers crossed under the table )(LOL) If my DH only knew how much I have spent on supplie over the last few years.....he would??????? ( probably Ground me from my scrapbooking...........) Is any one else this way? Oh.......I got to go..here comes my DH now!!!! Bye!!!

Let's just say I power shop for my supplies. LOL If my boyfriend knew we could have went on a grand vacation for the amount of money I have spent on scrapbook supplies I would be a single girl right now. As I type I am waiting for him to fall asleep so I can go out to the car and bring in my latest bargains. I must admit though I do shop the reduced and clearance aslies first, (other wise I would be in a homeless shelter by now) so my shopping could have ended up a lot more expensive than it was. I also frequent the Goodwill and Salvation Army stores pretty regularly for children's toys that can be traced around to make die cuts and are cheap, and today I found a letter stencil for .25, and two notebooks for storing supplies and catalogs in for $1.00. I had to make a deal with my DH yesterday.... He got to go to Home Depot and I went to the scrapbook store across the street. We each took a child and met at the Home Deopt checkout. My child threw up in the store (and I still managed to spend $9.50,) and his child was happily on his shoulders watching all the action as he bought a gas grill and a lawnmower for $270.00! Now, who got the better deal? Well, if he only knew I plan to go back this afternoon.... :)
