My fun box from Christine (christine00) arrived yesterday. Would've posted this then, but I was all tangled up in a bunch o' stuff we had to do, and at the end of the day I scarcely had presence of mind enough to do anything or anyone justice in any form. This evening, however, is different! :) From Christine, then: -Gevalia Kaffe "Amaretto" coffee - Yum sounding! Haven't tried it yet, but will very soon! Special stuff, from Sweden! And a nice big vaccuum bag of it, too! -"Black Raspberry & Vanilla" hand soap (pump type) - Great scent! Instantly put into use! -Small, blue metal bucket planter - Cute! Now I just have to figure out what to plant in it,...or maybe I'll use it for something else... :) -Red Canna rhizome - Kewlest!! A big ol' honkin' chunk!! Think I'll put it in a large planter, just in case our resident commando gophers have received new training and equipment. -Foil wrapped chocolate candies - Instantly snagged by Elly for her and our son! LOL! -Small ziplock seed bags - Always, always ALWAYS a welcome practical addition! :) -Floral scented candle in glass container - Alas, the glass component did not survive transport. No biggie, though, the candle itself is the most important part and remains quite salvageable! Thanks uber muchly, Christine! - Hmmm,...perhaps tomorrow morning for the coffee, as it's suddenly turned cold and rainy again. ;) Darrin

I am new to scrapbooking. Are there Canadian swaps? How do you get involved. Do you find out what the swap is and purchase (at this stage I don't have much) so many items, send them out and recieve different items? It sounds like so much fun. Please let me know. I do this! It started as a xmas gift last year and has just exploded. Mine is in 8x11 format in a 3 ring binder with page protectors (easy to move around). Mine is the master book. I took the finished pages to Kinkos and had copies made and put those in page protectors and binders for my mom and sister. Since I write in my cookbooks ("excellent", "blah!" etc), I was able to go through and pull out the good recipes. I was even able to ditch some cookbooks that I was keeping only for one or two recipes. I really dreaded all the data entry and then realized that all these recipes are on the web! So I do a google search until I find the exact (or very close) recipe and then cut and paste into word, change the color and font and print it out to scrap. I have found that this is a great way to use all the patterned papper I have accumulated from swaps etc. and stickers, die cuts, etc. I am doing some pages with two similar recipes (like 2 rice dishes) because some recipes are pretty small. I am planning of photocopying some of my mom's handwritten recipes but am still going through the ones from books right now. Both my sister and I have to agree that a new recipe is "book worthy" before it goes in the book. And this xmas, when we get together, they will bring their books so we'll know which pages to take to kinkos from my book. I tried to incorporate photos but it was *very* difficult. Perhaps in the future.
