pps - pics of Hubbardton Forge chandelier w/table

You asked in the other thread for pictures of my HF fixture that you were thinking of using with your reclaimed teak table. The lighting isn't great here but the pics show how it looks with my table - I think it gives the dining room a bit of elegance while remaining rustic enought to not clash with the surroundings.

My chandelier has water glass and it's the dark smoke finish. Originally, I ordered the stone glass but ended up ordering the water glass. Other fixtures in my house are in the bronze and black, and I think either of these finishes or the mahogany would look great with this chandelier.

Love the PB Armonk chandelier and that was high on my list. I didn't think I had enough space with my 8' ceilings and DH thought it resembled a bird cage - he just didn't get it - so I ended up with this one, my original choice.

The room's still unfinished - casing and trim should be finished next week,finally!

Juddgirl,

Your dining room looks fabulous! How are you liking your table? Is it practical? I had thought of getting it, but ended up getting more of a farm table.

I still love this table though! It looks great!

Looking great juddgirl! Love the room so far, especially the sideboard you have in the corner.

I can't decide. I think I'll wait another week until the space is a bit more finished. You have a 9 foot table-right? Ours is 8 ft x 39 inches so a bit smaller. We do have 10 ft ceilings. I really do want to love whatever fixture I get so I don't want to rush the choice. The armonk is half the price of the HF.

We used hanging pendants made by Roost. They only sell to wholesalers who then retail them. We bought ours locally, via our builder, from a design center so got a deal. Don't know hwat you can find in your area, but I have provided an online link below. We also used the Edison-reproduction, multi-filament bulbs they show in the pic. They are about 11 bucks each w/ shipping, but look waaaaaaay cool, esp. when dimmed, and provide all the light you need when at full power. If you go that way, order some spares. We have not had a burnout in 4 years, but we do not use them daily. Also, we did not want a track sitting across our ceiling to steal the eye away from the task lighting hanging below. Love all the suggestions. So far, my favorite is the Hubbardton Forge. sam1948, we won't purchase the table for quite some time. The house will not be completed until next summer but I have to choose light fixtures now! If you purchase a table before then-please post about it. As far as contemporary farmhouse-I just made that up LOL! Nothing new or exciting. Pretty traditional house with more transitional/contemporary decor ala Restoration Hardware. It'll be an all brick house, wide plank pine hardwood floors, simple square profile baseboard and casing, no crown moulding, white kitchen. I'll post pics when the house is done!

EATREALFOOD: Thanks for the comments. It is a nice space to have a cup of tea. I'm looking forward to the winter when I drink more of it. If we hadn't done the hardwood flooring, we would have gone with something in the slate family...I love all the warm colors in slate. My porch actually has PA blue stone for the floor in shades of lavendar, burgundy, gray, blue...with some rusting added to it. My only regret is that we do not have enough room in the dining area to put stools on the penninsula...the dining room is rather small. mgreenman: Thanks so much. Our kitchen is approximately 10' x 11'. I don't find the fridge behind me to be an issue whatsoever. In fact, we have a lot more room INSIDE the kitchen now; our penninsula is only 18" deep vs. standard 24" so that gave us some additional wiggle room as well.

Thanks! I can't wait to be done. We just got the RH large oak library media unit for the living room, which is just off the dining room, and I'm hoping they work together.

amac - once I oiled the table to protect it from spills and stains I found it very practical. We eat dinner there most evenings (although I cover the 6 yr old's chair with a hand towel!). In the mornings, before waking up the kids and dealing with the craziness of getting ready for work and school, I try to sit there for just a few minutes with my tea and toast. It's my sanctuary before dealing with a hectic day :-)

pps - you can't go wrong with the armonk if you have 10 foot ceilings and it would look great with a rustic table. My table is 9' but the HF fixture is available in a smaller size. I think I got a good deal on it from the online store Five Rivers, but they've since gone out of business. Too bad, because they told me I could exchange the stone glass if I changed my mind but then I ended up paying extra for the water glass from another retailer.
