I bought from Homeclick for the best price at the time and free shipping. My only negative comment is made, as an environmentally conscious person, on the packaging. Everything was packed with humongous foam-type bolsters, which cannot be recycled, reused, or even reduced.

Toto Washlet advanced toilet seats are very good, but are not the best of breed; that medal belongs to Inax advanced toilet seats. Inax -- which is the #2 Japanese plumbing fixture company in size but in Japan has a more prestigious image than Toto -- invented the category, and has remained the technological leader in that category for 30 years. Lixil, the name of the corporate group of which Inax is a part. purchased American Standard last year, and you will see a lot more of Inax in the United States going forward, I am sure. (My guess -- only a guess: American Standard will play the Toyota role in the United States, while the Inax brand will play the Lexus role.) But as to the story of advanced toilet seats as a purchase that you W-I-L-L make in the future, you should know that, in Japan, more than 90 percent of households already have them, and the Japanese now look down on our primitive American toilet hygiene in the way that we North Americans view the use of pit privies in third-world countries. Anybody who has used an advanced toilet seat for a period of more than a week or so is not going to go back to a primitive toilet seat. Never ever, ever. As to advanced toilet seats, Americans are in the stage that we were in in the early 1980s: "Why would I want a computer in my house?" I know this thread is 11 years old, but I would like to add that the culprit could be the toilet seat. I recently replaced our toilets, and they came with soft closing lids. We first notice the "soot" like residue on the seats. I believe that a small amount of grease is released as a fine dust. Several months later we noticed it on surfaces that emit air, such as our dish washer vent, and heat pump. We have used candles for years, but it was not until we replaced our toilets that the residue appeared. So it would be interesting to know how many find the residue on their toilet lids and of those how many are new installs and are they soft closing. Thanks

Sally, I love your cleaning solutions! I'm always feeling guilty and wondering where all these nasty chemicals really end up going. I don't know if they are gimmicky or not, but I've been switching over to the "Natural" cleaning solutions that are carried by Lowes. When using them, they are much gentler on the nose and skin. Plus they work well. As far as toilets go...We replaced our main floor toilets with the comfort height & soft close. The upstairs are still the standards. I don't have strong feelings about either one. Due to infrequent use of the upstairs by me, when I do end up there, I forget they are different than my customary toilet. So, I end up falling back onto the toilet when I sit down, and then I forget about the lid and I end up dropping it, so it slams down! Such is life! What really creeps me out are those soft cushy vinyl wrapped toilet seats that some folks have. What on earth is that about?
