Do U think just any wood chair will go with these stools? Pics...

I purchased 2 breakfast bar stools this weekend. My old stools had no arms,did not swivel and had no padding on the backs. These have ALL THAT! Before, with my old chairs I matched the planning desk chair exactly to the breakfast bar stools. Now what chair style should I use at the planning desk with the new stools?

Can you fit those new stools under that overhang?? They are very nice and comfy looking. Yes, you are in a bit of a dilemna here. I'm thinking.......thinking.........you need to closely match or go completely opposite but what would opposite be???? Guess they don't have a matching chair at this place? Maybe something with a fun print to it? Maybe a ghost chair? All metal chair? Honestly I am stumped. Something all upholstered?

But when you say 'any wood chair' then I am thinking a ladderback type (vertical or horizontal )wood chair will work, something with straight lines and a very dark cushion (black possibly). Am I helping or confusing you more.

thanks- these pics are mainly from the front yard. the large tree in the first pic is a Colorado blue spruce, surrounding by smaller green giants mostly. The second pic is a norway spruce in full bloom. The last pic is a fat albert spruce- again surrounded by green giants, and a norway spruce peeking in the pic on the right. I have a few bloodgood japanese maples too to pop in some red color. Hope this helps. I know I am not up on all the latin names and such and don't claim to know as much as alot of other people here- but I enjoy doing it. Much of this hobby is trial and error. So it pays to research stuff before you pay for anything. I've lost alot of stuff too.

I have Versailles pattern Ivory travertine in the kitchen and into breakfast room, sunroom, walk-in pantry, powder room, back hallway and laundry room. It's also in the main level bathroom floors. In the showers, we used the largest rectangle tile on the walls and in the guest baths, we used the smaller rectangle. It butts up to dark wood at the kitchen/great room and area outside main level guest bedroom/main level guest bedroom. For the lower level, I choice a very large Italian porcelain tile (24") and staggered the joints. Most think it's real stone too. You can see the Ivory travertine against lighter cabinets - fridge section and laundry room. There is not much contrast between the two, so I don't know if this would bother you or not. If my entire kitchen were off white/cream, I would have gone with a slightly darker flooring in order to have more contrast. Hope this helps. Allison Here is a link that might be useful: house tour

Redroze-I love the weathered look of the RH tables but some of their furniture tends to be massive. A few good things about the PB table is that it is 38" wide, and extends to seat 10. I'm not crazy about the legs but overall it seems to have what I need. If I could find it in reclaimed wood for the same price that would be perfect! Thanks for your opinion about the white. I think different shades of white in a room isn't matchy matchy as much as if it were the exact same color of white and same lines. Segbrown-Please excuse my mess in the following pic! The walls are camouflage by benjamin moore (never mind the swatches next to the window-and everything is painted now). I actually hired a color consultant and she convinced me to keep it (I wasn't liking it) and to add layers: pictures,accessories, etc. It is a hint green. Here is another shot of it so you can see how it really changes depending on the lighting and the room it's in. I'm not crazy about it in our dining room. I think it looks muddy. Just FYI here is a pic!

To sum up the changes from a week ago, it's now "Light up one big counter" and "Make the drawers a.b.a.p." rosieo, no matter what you do, you have a handle on the big things. I don't know if you will be happier with the range here or there; it may be a minor thing compared to all the other things you have figured out. In your set of images, photos 1 to 5 show the kitchen is in a windowless corner of the house. With a mirror on the wall you will get more light into the kitchen, coming from another angle. This makes a difference. ((B.t.w. Photos 1 to 5 make me think the footprint of the house is still in flux: I saw a storage area behind the pantry.)) Knowing now what I now know about your house, I would go to ikea for wood counters, for the price (way less than stone) and quality. Nobody has ever said anything bad about them. With the money saved, you can buy more of other things. If you have the money, you could have two single dishdrawers. When open to full drawer extension (or partially), they take up less space than a 30"high dishwasher panel. And, you cannot hit your shin on them. If you are certain that dishes will often go first to the sink (+disposer) before going to the dishwasher, you could justify putting the sink closer to the end, and the dishwasher on the other side of the sink. 500mm drawers If you go with the layout now shown in photo #10, know this: Your dead space corner could be reduced in size, if your counters were only e.g. 23.5" on top of 21" cabinets. Ikea drawers only need 21" space from front to back. Ikea 500mm length drawer slides are identical to the current model of Blum 500mm length drawer slides, and the drawers are almost identical, with an Ikea soft close damper added. I have them. I also have some of the longest possible Blum drawers: they're more spacious, but not a way way great thing to have absolutely. (p.s. length in this paragraph is the length of the gliders = depth of cabinet = distance front to back). If you went with the range-at-end, and then traded the range for a smaller one, you would have an easier time getting in and out of the corner it blocks. Is exhaust venting in your kitchen plan?

yes, i am also wondering about the new chairs fitting the space. they have arms on them and the old do not. I woul match with a square back chair, not round or bowed, lighter in color. LOVE new upholstered chairs - again, square backs, not rounded. Check out Pier 1 website.

kiko,vampiressrn...thanks for the suggestions.....still trying to decide how "stodgy" I'd like to take this......

The stools have a spring in the swivel. I also placed them away from the bar as opposed to letting the arms swing over the counter....it's too hard to get into them when they're pulled forward....they seem comfy...

Vampiressrn's suggestion of a bankers chair sounded cool, but what immediately came to mind was the other style of banker's chair, like the one below (would look really nice sprayed black). Otherwise, I would do a low back, faux leather parsons chair.

Oh, I think the new ones so much better. Quite frankly, I think the sky's the limit on the chair you use for your computer. I would use a constracting color and possibly the same color wood, don't make it to matchy matchy, though.

I personally don't like the old bankers chair with your stools. I think you need a more tradional type chair to go with your pretty kitchen. Something that screams "I got style".

Look around, even on CL, you are in no hurry are you? You'll know it when you see it.

Note: I normally like old with new, but not in this case, but this is only my opinion. I could be wrong and often am, but not now. (lol)

newdawn1895...do you like kiko's chair? That was the type of thing I was thinking...might go? The backs really square like elsa42's bankers chair, tracee said use a square back....vampiressrn said a bankers chair....I've got a ladder back, it's not very stodgy. I've got time.....:0)
