My first albums was about 15 months spent in USA so they were chronological. (but it was an event by itself, in some way). When we came back, I considered about topic albums like Xmas and birthday, but I feared that it was a little bit boring and to have difficulties to find a new inspiration for each page. So I began again a chronological album, from summer till now, but I am still wondering if I have to do events albums too. Anyway, I think it is impossible to put evrything in events albums, so I need chronological one too!
So all that is not very clear, but it is my own experience today. Let me now what you decide!

I think you need both. It is so hard to put 40 years' worth of photos into chronological albums, so I think people who are just starting out after 30 years of marriage or whatever should consider making event albums. On the other hand, you should probably begin a chronological album for the photos you are taking right now. That is how I have handled it. For really big events, like vacations, I make separate albums.

I have both! I have a Christmas theme album where each year I create a 1 or 2 page layout for each side of the family. I like having this Christmas album because I can see how the kids (and adults) have changed throughout the years (and so can both sides of the family!). My kids' album's are chronilogical, and then I have chronilogical albums for pictures that don't go into my children's books.
