Scum on plastic underneath refrigerator water dispenser?
Comments (1)The only thing I can think of that might help would be a good scrubbing with alcohol or vinegar as both these do remove hard water stains. It may take several times and some elbow grease to get it off. After removing the hard water spotting, try protecting the area with paste wax or rain-x which can be found in the automotive department in department stores. You will have to reapply every month or so as it does wear off. I've done the same for my bottled water grill as I used only spring water which contains lots of minerals. For lack of rain-x or paste wax, I used future floor wax instead. This method also worked except that eventually it started to peeling off rather than wearing off. The peeling didn't bother me so much as the yellowing that future gets after a while. I'd then re scrub and reapply... yeah yeah, I should have gone out and gotten the proper stuff but I was trying to use up my useless "Future" since I had no wax floors by that point LOL!...See MoreAre refrigerators with in-door ice/water dispensers worth buying?
Comments (19)10 years ago, I really wanted the water/ice dispenser so we got it. I will never get another one. What a big mistake. There was alays ice dropped on the hardwood floor. It was hard for me to get the ice without having some drop on the floor. With 2 kids, these are type of things that are hard to "teach" well enough to avoid the problem every single time. It actually died once and had it repaired. Then it died again with the flap in the open position. We disconnected dispenser and closed the flap so the air would not get into the freezer all the time. I think a problem with these is that everytime you use it, it lets in room air into the freezer compartment. This causes a large amount of humidity (it has to do with the relative humidity difference between room temperature and freezer compartment) and the water freezes out and causes freezer burn to the food. It's like briefly opening and closing the freezer door everytime you use the ice dispenser. Many people like them very much but not for me....See MoreInline Valve for Refrigerator Ice Maker
Comments (4)First of all, the water entering your refrigerator is metered by a solenoid operated needle valve, and that valve is certified to work correctly at the maximum allowable water pressure of 85psi. There are no "issues" with the ice maker than can be resolved by reducing the line pressure. Second, a ball valve is not a throttling valve and it would not reduced the pressure. Perhaps if you can tell us what your issue is we can advise you of the correct method of fixing it....See MoreNew faucet water tastes weird
Comments (17)Langlay Skye- China is the source of a lot of cheap stuff, but also can produce quality stuff totally on a par with or better than some quality “made in USA“ products. But even faucets that are high quality can contain lead in the brass castings which you wouldn’t be able to taste. And high quality faucets, regardless of where they come from, may need to use rubber, nylon, or plastic for seals. So it’s complicated. In all seriousness, maybe you are one of those people who are “super tasters” and are more sensitive to things like this than the average person. Have you ever considered getting a test kit to see if it picks up anything? Something like this?: https://www.freshwatersystems.com/products/purtest-complete-home-water-test-kit...See Moredavid k
