Dear Tanya- Guilty...my son was bitten in the face by a dog when he was a year old. 6 stitches. Yes. I took pictures. Well, the stitches were just kind of there. And yes, they are in a scrapbook and yes, I have a background of 'ouches' and band-aids.:o)or maybe :o(

Graeme has had stiches twice! One on his shin, and once on his little forehead. It was HIS idea to take pictures of the ones on his leg!! He wanted to put it in his alVUM as he calls it LOL
I did it with the Nurse/doctor stickers from Mrs. Grossman, and it looks really cute. I have stuck a couple of them in your envelope to send. I am hoping to get back out in the world on Thursday, so will mail it then. (And yes, I did take loads of pictures of him with his chicken pox!!)

It sounds darling. I have a problem with albums that are all sunshine and roses. We aren't the Stepford Scrappers, you know! Include life's little mishaps.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I have two active little boys. We have pages I made when one of my sons broke his arm (after the cast was on of course). We also have the chicken pox page. One of my boys had surgery on his eye when he was just leaning to walk. He had a couple of stitches from that of course. We have those pictures in an album. Broken bones, and stitiches are sometimes part of growing up too. Just like learning to ride a bike, and ball games. I know I want to remember it all. Good and bad. My opinion is to go ahead and make the scrapbook page. I think you'll be glad you did later down the road.

On my son's 4th birthday, he broke his leg and was in traction for about 5 weeks. I have one photo of him while in the hospital, and he always loved looking at it. Now to me it is a treasure. I say keep the photos. Penny

I would keep them in. It's a part of her life. The whole purpose of scrapbooking (IMO) is to chronical the every day events in life as well as special occasions. This wouldn't fall under "special", but it's definitely somethign that she's been through and I would put it in.

My daughter hasn't gotten any stitches yet, but I do have her first big boo-boo on a page (she fell when she was learning to walk and split open her lip - looked a lot worse than it actually was, but I took pictures). I want her to see that she was human!!

By the way, on the same idea, one woman at the last crop I attended was doing a page of her daughter throwing a tantrum. Yup. She took pictures while her 2 year old was thrashing around on the floor screaming. She got monster stickers and did a 1 page spread on it. IT was adorable. :)

I just finished a two page spread of my oldest son and his stitches. The first page has pictures of the stitched boo-boo and his hospital band, etc. The second page is the essay he had to write for school telling about his bike accident - the writing and words of a nine year old. I also have pictures of my then 2 year old in the hospital after surgery. These are all part of the story of growing up. For the young ones who don't remember they are fascinated with the pictures and the older ones use them for bragging purposes (see how many stitches I have?!?).

That makes me think of the spread I did when my daughter got braces. There is a railroad track in the background, complete with railroad crossing signs. A die cut train at the bottom. And the pics of my daughter were taken on the tracks and leaning up against a railroad car. Funny.

Here's my story...my DD fell and got a 6 stitch cut between her eyes the day before her 1st day of pre-school...you bet that cute little bandaged face is in the book!

Then there was me. A week before X-mas I was making presents late at work one night and sliced my finger with an X-acto knife...a co-worker took me to the hospital. I received 5 stitches and a white bandage three times the size of my finger. Well by the time I got to work the next day the entire office had not only heard the story but got together to take a photo with ALL of them sporting a white bandaged finger! Then the office secret Santa gave me a first aid kit for X-mas! Those photos are in the book too!

Sure, why not? It's part of your child's life. I even have one page of my DD "before and after" her breast reduction surgery right after H.S. graduation - and one of her in the hospital. Then, the kicker is that 14 years later, she had breast enhancement - and I put all 4 pics together on one page (with musical notes), "Did you ever have to make up your mind?" Hey, it's all part of her life. My sisters got a kick out of it, too.

I agree, my husband and two grand daughters all broke an arm last year. I made a two page spread with a pic of each in their cast and used a die cut for how it happened. Hubby got a ladder, Grand daughter #1 got a sofa and granddaughter #2 got a jungle gym, scattered some band aids and and hospital equipment(all needed surgery too) titled it "BOO BOO'S".

When my daughter was a sophmore she tore her ACL which required surgery. I have a two page spread showing the incision, her in a leg brace and on crutches, and gifts she received from friends. My husband, who is a basketball coach, shows these pages to his players each year to encourage them to wear knee pads to help protect their knees.
