Pics of Mountain Yard Per Basil's Request
Comments (25)I still don't think it's elder. It was bugging me so i looked it up. Look at the link below and notice how much longer the elder leaves are in proportion, and more important, notice that they are attached right to the central stem they grow off of to form the compound leaf. Basil's plant has smaller stems coming off the central stem which then form a leaf. Small but important distinction. The elder leaves are serrated as well, but it's pretty hard to tell if basil's are or not. What color are the berries? I agree that it's very hard to tell for sure without a better pic. I don't know if any of the viburnums have compound leaves or not, but that's an excellent point. Do you know adele? There's such a lot of them. Fyi, my queen anne's lace get to 4 or sometimes close to 5'. Not that that's what anyone was showing except that one link where they were describing the flower. Here is a link that might be useful: elder leaves from google images...See MoreMy3dog, will valance work on this window?
Comments (25)Sorry, I was spending hours cutting out the panels for mine! Yes, Bru, the 18" vertical repeat means that the pattern appears twice in a yard. If you buy 6 yards for 3 windows, that should be enough. I caution you though, depending on where the store makes the cut, don't plan on being able to cut your 6 yards into 3 identical pieces. They may send you fabric that the cut starts halfway through a repeat, meaning you may lose a few inches. We decided earlier that 1.5 yards should do it for you for each window. That will give you wiggle room to have the girl cut three identical pieces from your 6 yards, with a bit left over for your part project. What do you plan to make the 'ties' from? If it's this same fabric, rather than coordinating cord or ribbon, I suggest you buy 1.5 yards EXTRA, on top of your 6 yards. That will allow your girl to cut the needed 6 strips (2 ties per window) to make them vertically through that extra 1.5 yards. It may sound like a lot to have ties 56" long, but if they were only 36", that wouldn't give you much length to play with as you go to tie them up, as half of the tie will be in front on the fabric and the other half will drape over the rod and down the back. You then reach under and grab the back of the tie and tie the front and back part together. The reason I say to have her cut the ties vertically down through the fabric, is so your flowers will be standing up on your valance and running in the same direction on the ties. If the fabric was a solid or a small check, you could cut them across, but you don't want flowers laying down on their sides on your ties!...See MoreWhat happened to the link of MY3Dogs house?
Comments (23)M3D's, this is the first time I've seen a pic of your bathroom. How beautiful and charming it is! I especially love your wall sconces, medicine cabinet and all your lovely transferware. The Queensway fabric looks like it'll work wonderfully with your loveseat for Spring. Just how close are you to Spring up there in Maine, anyway? I've heard it comes June-late there. I've always been taken with your Winter mantle. With the metal wreath, it looks like it could easily grace any magazine cover. BTW, did you make that wreath?!? I don't recall ever seeing another one like it. It's elegantly simple and I love it. And then the lamps . . . I am SUCH a lampaholic that I literally drool over your beautiful ones! Your newest find is such fun. It'll certainly brighten up your study when it arrives. Don't forget to post pics when you get it. And it looks as though you've finished the barley twist ones. What a great idea that was! As for the Chinoiserie, I can see from your picture that they're terribly jealous and upset that they're being replaced by the barley twists. I think what they need is a respite away from those little upstarts for a while, don't you? To New Mexico, perhaps? Lynn ;^P...See MoreWelcome My3dogs....
Comments (15)Hi, again! It's not quite heaven, because believe it or not, I live on a fairly busy street. When THIS happened on Patriot's Day 2007, I replaced this 80 foot pine that fell out of my yard and onto my fence with smaller trees and shrubs to shield my front yard more from the street. And, once you step out in the back yard, any noise of cars going by is gone, and replaced by the wonderful sound of the river. I DO feel blessed to live here - 7 miles from my mother, so easy to keep watch on her, and because I love to do as much work on the house as I can myself, I have been able to make it just what Sam, Joey, Jenny and I need. They have doggie doors in my cellar, so are able to go out whenever they'd like (talk about muddy footprints!) into their 'puppy pen'. The last pic below is one I took last night of their pen, to show my buddy 'Chijim'. Not pretty, but a wonderful play area for them to be safe. They can look at river activity through the chain link in the back, and they are hidden from the street by the stockade in the front. Sam and Joey love the little pool, (Jenny won't try it) and the picnic table is their 'grooming bench'! It's a very private area, and sits down below my front yard, and is totally hidden by surrounding trees in the summer. Puppy pen...See MoreKippy
