30th Birthday Book

Hi all-

Your all so wonderful I think and talented. I haven't started yet but have wanted to for along time, I have read everythread on this forum and took ALONG time..LOL...I can't wait to get started I took everyones advice on what supplies to get started with, and have been picking stuff up a little at a time, my question is. My sister just turned 30 saturday and we had a surprise party for her. I had 3 cameras goin and also got some black cardstock and a white and silver Gel pen and had everyone write a message for her. I then took pics of her with each person so I can put their message with their pic. Making any sense so far? .LOL......Well anymore idea on what to do to make it a nice album? Any suggestions much appreciated. THANKS

Your off to a great start! If you wanted to keep this album just related to her 30th b-day then you could add a page in time which depicts the events etc., that took place when she was born and maybe another page for the current year. Hope that made sense. If you have old pic of the same people with your sister those might be fun to add also. Check the link below they have lots of sites.

How about a clean clear bottle like a 1 or 2 liter pop bottle with a slit cut it in to fit everything in? I've even used a gatorade bottle. You can make a label on the computer to go around the bottle to cover the slit & say "Survival Kit to help you adjust to getting older" or something like that. It's always fun to see everyone wonder how you got everything in the bottle!!! I must have missed the post about the 40th birthday items, could you share that? Good Luck & have fun! Vera

Need idea for 30th birthday cake

The cupcakes would be a cute idea, you could decorate each one with a letter so together it says "Happy Birthday To Our Queen" or the Queen - you could also put the cupcakes on a board in the shape of a tiara or castle (?) I did find a present cake, quite elegant, you could change the colors to reflect her brown, pink and silver favorites. The link is here for you. Hope you post the finished product! I ordered one for my dad, who is 82 and agree it's a fantastic gift idea. Imhappy, they had quite a few discount promotion days for the book; I think I got 25% off the regular price and free shipping after reading about it here, so while it wasn't cheap it definitely was below $100. Oakley, not sure what you mean-why would 1963 be out of order? When you originally posted I thought maybe it was one of the dates that weren't available of the several that the NYT didn't print due to strikes over the years. Also why would dates before the recipient's birth be included? I didn't pore over my dad's book to check the back before I wrapped it but am puzzled about your comments.

We did something similar for my dad's 75th birthday-- everyone provided 5-6 memories/stories of what they'd learned from my dad. Some were funny, some were family jokes, some were touching, some were practical. it was and is a much treasured gift. One of my sisters got a book at michaels to which she affixed printed out versions, photos etc. I admit, it was not what I'd have done and it wasn't the most professional -- but she took ownership and I didn't want to upset her. In the end, it didn't matter. It didn't take away from it being very special. I still read through it-- it makes me laugh and cry!
