How did you choose your cabinet crown?
Comments (5)I usually offer 2-3 choices out of the molding sample box for the customer to choose from, based on the style of the cabinetry and their overall aesthetic. We'll mock it up on the door sample by hand so that they can see the difference, and I'll offer guidance about how each of them can technically or aesthetically work with their other choices. If they have no strong preference, I'll usually nudge them towards the more simple choice. It usually has more style staying power over the long run....See MoreHow did you choose the grout color for your backsplash tile?
Comments (9)We're going to be making our backsplash grout decision shortly. What kind of tile are you using? We have ivory subway tile and we may choose a slightly contrasting grout colour, possible gray, to emphasize, rather than minimize, the pattern a little. We like the way the tile looks ungrouted and don't want the shadow lines to disappear altogether. I'm going to post a new thread about our backsplash tile (which we're installing ourselves). Artemis, we'd like to hear more about your grout matched caulking. Where did you get it? What brand did you use? And anything else you could tell us would be great....See MoreHow Do YOU Choose A Picture - Your Art - For Over Your Fireplace
Comments (28)My husband wanted to put up this ugly reproduction of a horse race painting that he found at a garage sale, I told him "give me a week, I'll find something better online!" I wanted a modern look, some realisitc photography, but I didn't want black and white because we have so many b&w prints in the house already. I finally bought a color print of a park scene (some park in NYC, I'm not sure which) at a web site called Brooklyn Prints. Every mantle is different, of course; I had just enough space to put up a 16x20 print in a wood frame. Our fireplace is for decoration only, so we didn't have to worry about heat damage to the frame or the print, but it is something to think about too. Here is a link that might be useful: Brooklyn Prints...See MoreHow did you choose your master bedroom furniture?
Comments (6)I LOVE your room. The colors make my heart happy. Mine's a collection of stuff. We had, a long time ago, an entire set of waterbed stuff. I was certainly ready for a change. I bought the headboard and shelf after my mom died. It was a last present from her kinda thing...the pieces came from a craft fair. I drooled over them for afew months before I finally brought them home. The chair is my 'run away from home' chair. As a homeschool mom sometimes I had to get away without living home. I have flowers and a birdfeeder out the window. There are no frou-frou window treatments. I'm not a frou-frou girl. Everything in the room has been collected over time. I couldn't bring myself to buy a matched set either. I needed personality....See Morelindac
