Should I remove lower branches from overgrown Spruce? (pics)
Comments (28)Limbed up trees with conical shapes that would otherwise branch to the ground appear to be floating or perched after the bottom is removed. With the comparative minority of specimens that are left with their visually anchoring basal skirts intact being far more elegant and impressive. And when disease and pest susceptible conifers like spruces and true firs have thin or partially browning lower branch areas what these often need is a spray program. Rather than scalping. There is a persisting shared characteristic called The Savannah Mentality based in the human species having arisen in African parklands that makes it so that there is a tendency to try and make private and public outdoor spaces consist to a large extent of lawns occupied by a scattering of trees with elevated crowns. With for some reason rose family flowering and fruit trees in particular being subjected to the emulation of the parasol acacias of the savannah to the extent that stripping, topping and salad bowl haircuts are commonplace with this group....See MoreShould I vent bath fan through roof, or soffit?
Comments (25)So I'm replacing my un-insulated vent tubing with insulated because i live in wisconsin and it condenses and drips through ceiling, comes out in low areas at seems of tubing because it goes across attic a distance of 15 - 18 feet on a curve with multiple low spots. I present have a sled under the seem to collect water from last winter tabokkal ! Choice is go up to roof 5-6 feet or out the present vent 15-18 feet with insulated pipe Or shorten the line by going straight to side of home but this requires going up high with latter to drill a new vent hole, as tight quarters in attic prevent drilling from attic. Going to the soffet is 12 feet. I was considering soffet only because I was fearful of too much slow covering my vent. Do I have a legitimate concern as sometimes roof is covered with 10 to 12 inches? My pitch is lower 12-18 I think thats right. Is there a certain vent style or type recommendation? Is there a height that is recommended for safety and efficiency with going up to roof? Thanks for any advice I'll wait patiently...See More18' Ceiling - How high should curtains be hung?
Comments (3)Look for a stud in the wall with a stud finder BEFORE you decide on where to hang the curtains. JUST because there should be a beam above the window doesn't mean there is to support the rods. It may make the difference in how you hang the curtains. At that size there's going to be some weight to them so you are going to need a secure place to hang them from....See MoreI think I hung my chandelier too high but I already cut the wire!
Comments (6)I do agree that it looks a bit high, and usually start around the 30" mark when possible. It depends on the chandelier itself, and you never want to hang too low if it's a wide piece for fear of bumping heads! I don't have advice on how to rewire/add length other than consult an electrician, but if you add taller chairs and a tall centerpiece, that could help with the disconnect. Try a cluster of tall/varied height candlesticks or vases in the same color/finish, and maybe add a runner to complete the look. Good luck!...See Moreeam44
