When you say foundation, I'm assuming the house is new and it has not yet been back filled. This is normally coated with a tar. I always suggest that after the tar parging sets up, that the entire foundation then be wrapped in construction plastic before back filling. Doing this will eliminate the chance of water ever seeping through the block.

Actually it is an existing house (not new at all). I am talking about the exposed couple of feet. It has the tar coating on the first six inches, and the rest is just plain concrete...

Maybe not a big deal, but if you plan on using a wead trimmer. You may end-up whipping off the finish some?

Why don't you just cover your exposed foundation block with quikwall. Then you can dye it any color you want.

I have a similar issue. My builder had a brick layer's shelf done on the front of the house and we installed thin granite curbing. Looks awesome. Unfortunately, the rest of the house has 8-12" of exposed concrete and looks kind of cruddy.

What do people think of this plan?

1. Use Quikwall on rest of foundation to give it the correct texture

2. Paint over cured Quikwall w/ a granite looking paint (Valspar's Fleck Stone or equivalent)

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
