wondering

Just for fun I clicked on "Other Forums" today and noticed that every single star has been removed from there. That used to depict which ones were only for paid memberships.

Wondered if anyone else had noticed this - I knew they were not accepting any more paid memberships.

Curt,

At this time, we will no longer be accepting new contributing
memberships until further notice and currently plan to open any closed forums to
all visitors in the coming weeks. While contributing memberships are
non refundable, we intend to extend the majority of the terms of all
current contributing members for a calendar year, which would include
offering the same advertising-reduced board pages for existing contributing
members.

Take care,

Wondering about Garden Wonder
Q

Hi Juju, I just picked a White Perfection today and both of my plants, as of today, have 10 buds and each have 3 opened flowers. The plants are 5 1/2 feet tall and the flowers are 7 1/2 inches. I also have Garden Wonder which doesn't have as many buds but is 5 ft tall and the flowers are 6 1/2 - 7" across. Garden Wonder isn't as prolific as WP but still is a fine bloomer in my garden. I ,of course, have to dig up my tubers in zone 5. Digging these up last year I found that WP had produced an abundance of tubers all being big and fat. Garden Wonder had very few tubers per plant and the tubers were very long and very skinny. How do yours compare to mine? Willow

Bell Pepper, California Wonder vs. California Wonder 300 TMR

California Wonder and California Wonder 300 are both supposed to be open-pollinated, but I've heard that California Wonder 300 is an improved version of California Wonder: http://sustainableseedco.com/organic-california-wonder-bell-pepper.html (But I don't know if the product description is right because I ordered the seeds, and mine don't say 300 on them) I don't know if California Wonder 300 TMR is the same thing as California Wonder 300, though, but I assume so. Yolo Wonder is also an improved version of California Wonder.

I agree with the above. While day temps are rising, soil temps are still low - and beans need high soil temps to germinate quickly. They are notoriously vulnerable to rot when planted in cool soil. There's nothing wrong with trying to get them in early... as long as you have enough seed to replant later if they fail. Even if only a few plants survive, they will give you a jump on the season. If you want to rush the season in the future, consider planting varieties with good cool-soil tolerance. Since you were already growing a pole, I would recommend "Emerite" and "Fortex".

Tell ya what, Linda. Y'all bring the fixings for Chef Shantz's version, and I'll happily supply all the Champagne you can drink. I know you can afford it, what with all those big catering jobs. So, let's see.....there will be you and yours (2) and Carol and hers (2) and me and Friend Wife (2). Ruthanna and hers have to come, because it was her suggestion (2). And I've promised Annie a great dinner. I'm sure she'll bring her daughter---or, if not, one of those cabana boys. So that's another (2). Wow! What a party it's going to be. And all I need supply is Champagne for ten. ;>)
