Consistent snooping got lucky. Bumped across a forum which gave links to all 5 of the patches for PSP X3. These patches were no longer available on the Corel site. The links were direct downloads to Patches 1-5, and they worked. They are all downloaded, but not yet installed. I will do so and report the results. They are supposed to make PSP X3 work on WIN 8.1 A link to the forum which has the 5 links is below, in case anyone else has a possible need for them. Judy have you ever visited Red Flag Deals? It is a Canadian site where all the younger population (and me) go to post and view the best prices. A valuable tool. 50% of the members are around the greater Toronto area. You might consider advertising on the buy and sell forum there, you never know who has Paint Shop Pro and no longer need it. I see Corel want $99 for version 12 yet Amazon.com has used copies of version 9 for $12.99 and up. However they do not ship to the Great White North yet they ship to many other countries. You can download the free Gimp photo editing program. This is a full featured program but there is a learning curve - as there is with all higher end photo editing software. Or if your aims are more modest you could give Irfanview or Xnview a try. Both are free, both are very versatile. Be sure to grab the plugins if you download Irfanview Here is a link that might be useful: RedFlagDeals Canada

Nothing can compare with the original JASC made PSP's. Coral has their own system which I think is a whole new ballgame. I know their help support stinks cause I just got the run around with them on a problem that got solved right off the bat from JOY, here on this forum when I posted my problem just ONCE! I had been emailing Coral several times about it which they could not tell me how to correct it.

Edit........ . . . to select only the white part of the image and hit your delete key then you must either go to Selections > Invert to invert the selection or go to Selections > Select None. If you don't invert the selection or remove the selection all together, what you copy will be the empty space, where you just deleted the white. It was the white part that was selected, and then you deleted it but that same area is still selected. So, either invert to select everything but that empty area or select none. So sorry I forgot that part. I'm looking at the times of our posts. I would have answered sooner but wasn't here. Sorry, and I hope you weren't waiting impatiently. LOL If you're doing it in PSP (the first option) and want to get fancy, feather the ovals so as to soften the edges and make them just a little bit see through. After hitting your delete key (before inverting or removing the selection), go to Selections > Feather and set it to about 25 or so. Click OK and hit your delete key 3-5 times. Then, go to Selections > Select None. Now you can copy it and paste it to the main image. It works out quite beautifully.
