How do I stop water from leaking into the garage

Every time it rains, water leaks into my garage through the two garage doors. The problem is that the floor is level with the driveway outside, with no slope and no step. How do I fix this? The yard slopes downwards from the driveway so if I can just get the water away from the garage it will runoff down the yard. I've heard that someone could cut grooves into the concrete floor to create a downhill water path, but I don't know whether this is a good solution, and I don't know what kind of company would do this. Any advice?

I ran across a similar situation this past fall, a 2 car garage - brand new.
First I checked to see that the doors were properly and tightly weatherstriped. They weren't. So repaired that.
Checked the inside garage floor and it was level - no pitch and at the same height as the outside driveway.
To correct the problem, we cut in a drain across the front of the garage, running the full width of the driveway from left to right and added a lenght of perforated pipe into the yard for drainage. That solved the problem.
Your local mason should be able to best advise you best by a visual inspection. Call one.

Do you have any extra liner under the rocks?? If not I think you will have to make a change to your pond. If you want the rocks to be in the water the liner needs to extend beyond the rocks and above the water line you desire. What I (and many others) have done too accomplish this is to extent the liner beyond the rocks and above the water line and then use a mix of additional rocks, including smaller rocks and gravel to cover the liner edges.

Does anyone have a permanent solution to this problem and I'm wonder why it only leaks from a portion of one wall and not all the walls. I'd be looking outside. Check gutters, landscaping, and grade to ensure water is not pooling around the base of the wall where you are having leaks.

If you need to leave that downspout there (not sure why it is there, it shouldnt be), at least extend it all the way down past the corner of the house. No, you shouldnt pour concrete on the flower bed. Thats not going to fix anything. Then the rain water will land on top of the concrete, and still run towards your house. Next to your house, needs to be higher up so that the water runs away from the house, not to the house. It doesnt have anything to do with the flower bed. It has to do with the way the sloping is in that area, and doesnt help that you have a downspout there dumping water inches away from the house. Can you post a better picture of what looks like a doorway on the picture, please?

If the faucet leaks from around the handle just when the water is turned on, the stem packing may be leaking. In some cases, you can fix this by simply tightening the retaining nut that's under the handle. Remove the screw in the center of the handle and pull the handle off. Try tightening the nut slightly (Photo 1). On second thought, those thresholds i referred might make matters worse if it causes a "dam" effect where water would pool in front of the doors.

As usual, porch guy has an excellent solution.

Ardex feather finish can be used to create a small dam 1/2" high just in side the area where the door closes.

I know this is an old thread but am curious about creating a dam to block water from entering my garage. I installed a garage door threshold which works very well but now the water run across the threshold and into the corner of the garage door/wall area. I am trying to figure out a way to seal that off. gejandsons I would love to see a picture of what you have created in your garage. Thanks!
