First Tute in AGES!!!!!!!!

I just happened to go to and follow a tute from Vixen's who has been very faithfully sending me news even tho I haven't been there for ages.

So------- Lookie at what I did and using PSPX!

It is a tutorial on Embossing.

Oh how nice if I would now use that program as it really has a lot of nice features!

Yes Judy,

I didn't try it in PSP7 but it does have the Emboss Tool under texture effects.
So it can be done in PSP7 too but SS did it in PSPX so I did too.

I did not mention El Toro because the varieties of Bermuda you have referenced are a lot finer textured and much darker in color. Nothing wrong with El Toro and worth considering if you have some shade issues to deal with. You did raise a red flag in my mind when you asked " Do you think it is reasonable to go with Tifway 419 and use a Walker Rotary Mower most of the time if we keep it under control? Or do I need to go with another grass? Here is the problem all the varieties you are looking at are fine and dwarf textured. Tifway-419 can be mowed with a rotary type mower as long as it is a quality one that can get down to 1-inch, but performs better between ½ to ¾ of an inch with a reel type mower. TifSport will need a reel type mower because it needs to be down around ½ inch. But here is the kicker the TifGreen or TefEagle go one step beyond a reel mower if you are serious about a putting green as they need a very expensive greens mower. A greens mower is a reel type on steroids and a precision machine requiring a lot of maintenance in the form of blade sharpening and alignment. I think you mentioned 28,000?ft2 lawn and that gets into the riding type, and if you are serious about using a fine textured Bermuda like TifSport, you need to get a riding with ganged reel mower, and a greens mower for the putting green. So think carefully about this. If you intend to maintain 2/3 of an acre of grass and cannot do this, then you need to consider another grass type that does not need to be mowed at an inch or less. Zoysia falls into this category and is maintained between 1 to 2 inches. Not to mention Zoysia grows slowly and only requires mowing every 7 to 10 days vs 2 to 3 times a week for Bermuda, and every other day for a putting green. If budget is a concern I suggest you look at Tifway-I (aka 419), only one grass I know outperforms in its class which is TifSport. However Tifway in my area sells for 65 to 85 per pallet, and Tifsport 2 to 3 times that cost. I sure hope you have an idea how much TifGreen and TifEagle go for, prices vary from 500 to 900 per pallet.

Age-ing Manure

Karen, they may have some that is aged from being piled up for awhile. Ask about it. I know that there is a difference in horse and cow manure, but this is prime, aged, composted about 18 months old. is a close up view. Cow manure should look quite similar when aged and composted (which it does on it's own when piled up.) Also, it should NOT have a strong, offensive or unpleasant odor. Bill P.

Also, you might consider Chamblee's Roses. They are shipped in gallon pots and are more mature than roses of many own-root vendors. Chamblee's selection is not as extensive as some, but they do have nice roses. Another vendor with larger own-root plants is High Country Roses, though their selection is aimed at colder climates. Still, you might find some you like there; I have. Amity Heritage Roses used to sell the largest own-root bands around, just gorgeous plants, but I don't think they are currently active. It didn't look like it to me when I last visited their website. Probably there are others, but I'm only mentioning ones I have purchased from myself. My personal favorite vendor is Vintage, and I buy the majority of my roses there, but you do have to mature them in a gallon pot yourself. Rosefolly

Yes, you should be suspicious. DD had her two sons 3 weeks early, but she is small with an especially tiny waist, so I have wondered if her body just can't manage much more than 6.6 pounds or thereabouts. I do remember reading that the last month, the baby puts on 1/2 pound a week. Egads, is this going to be one of those 10 pound babies?? But don't tell the momma; she doesn't need the worry! Congratulations, and enjoy all the fun of the preparations. I would be knitting and crocheting like mad in your situation, and I would not be making newborn size for this big baby!

Judy,
Go to Vixens and click on message boards.
Then go down to "How Do I Do This" to click on it.

I clicked from my e-mail and didn't think it would work from here.

That is a cute picture.

All you have to do is emboss it before placing it on that background.

I just tried that and it looked pretty cute. I only embossed the balloon with my name before.

You really need to post a link. I Googled Vixen and got a ton of links but nothing that looked like what you are talking about here. I quit looking after page 64 of the links. You wouldn't believe some of the sites that came up.

Goodness arkie62,
You should have posted before you did all that work as I know how frustrating that must have been.

I was just fooling around and didn't think anyone would be interested in doing it.

On the Left hand side of Vixens, 4th one up from the bottom from Member Tools, click on How Do I Do This.
On the page that pops up, it was right on top: How to Make An Embossed Watermark.........Sparkle Star.

Hi all,
Here is a site where you can learn how to make a neat watermark:
I made this one here, but I found the blend mode "hard light" more to my liking"

Here is a link that might be useful: tut for watermark

That's what you want is the home page.

Then you find that on the left side like I mentioned to do above.

Sorry again urlee, but the link you give takes me to the main MSN site (http://groups.msn.com/home) and a search of the groups brings up a hundred or more pages with reference to "Vixen" but nothing that even remotely resembles what you are talking about here.

see if this one will get you there. If it doesn't I copied the instructions on how to do it.

YAY Judy,

That one took me right to it but I do not know if it is because I am a member?
It says welcome Urlee (member)when it opened.

I wondered that too Urlee.
Wonder if Arkie is a memeber there.

Followed the link, had to sign up for MSN, then send a request for membership to Vixens. Am waiting for a reply to that request. Hehe, I think I may eventually get in.
Thanks, Max
