Okay so to answer some of your questions Yes, looking into the room from French doors the registers are on the left wall and the windows are on opposite side. I also realized I’m even more limited in space due to the French doors swinging inside the room by about 15”. I really do only have 2 solid walls at 123” long to work with. We just got rid of our 1990’s L shaped office set up which was set up in that ideal L shaped corner but would love to switch it up and be able to look out my windows when working. Speaking of working, I do work from home with my business and my husbands side business is also run from our home office as well so it gets lots of use. I need space for typical daily office supplies so looking to have adequate storage. Now the calendar wall idea was to replace those plastic calendars with a 50”w x 36h” piece of acrylic to use as a dry erase calendar with some standoffs. I would have space underneath that on the floor for a lateral file cabinet. I did think the desk was a bit too big but trying to convince hubby to change it. He’s a work in progress right now :-)

So my husband agreed and decided on Gauntlet Gray for the cabinets. I want to paint that triangular wall above the cabinets also the Gauntlet Gray so we have one whole wall of this dark color. The painter and I convinced my husband to paint the ceiling, baseboard, and window trim, plus back of the glass French doors white. The designer says all dark gray trim, but the baseboards are skimpy for these large rooms and high ceilings. I know I’ve hurt my hubby’s feelings because he was set on all gray trim for re-sale. We are trying to tell him that he is seeing what builders are doing in model homes and the painter is telling him what he paints the most which is what customers are asking for. Now, what to put on the walls with the SW Gauntlet Gray? The designer says Accessible beige. And he wants to put Agreeable Gray throughout the house, with Accessible beige in the first floor master and tiny dining room. I’m struggling with these two color tones, Accessible beige and Agreeable Gray. The center is the cabinet color. I’ve never seen it or sampled it. Scares me but painter and designer say it’s a great color. Bottom left little sample is SW Accessible beige. The one above it is BM Edgecomb Gray, the little center strip is BM pale oak. And the far right is SW Agreeable Gray.

I'm remodeling my condo and planning to use my dining room as a combo dining room/office. My dining room is much smaller than yours but here's what I'd do if I had your room. Use the table as a desk. If you need to protect the table, get a glass or other protector. Replace one of the chairs with a high-quality office chair with carpet casters. Replace that small cabinet with a credenza for all your papers, folders, and printer.* If you don't mind modifying the table, install a covered electrical outlet. If you need a computer with a large screen, get an all-in-one (example) instead of a desktop or laptop and separate monitor. Make sure all your peripherals (mouse, keyboard, printer) are all wireless. When you want to dine, just move the all-in-one, peripherals and papers to the credenza. *If you want to get really fancy, get a credenza large enough to hold all that stuff plus the all-in-one computer when it wasn't in use

I would not put up an awning, it's dark enough. if you need shade, a colorful sun sail? or pergola slats? is that a parking spot right outside the door? I would build out that whole area and make a courtyard. with built in seating and planters, plant some evergreens, soften the appearance. Brighten up the entry walls, the door, and beef up the two posts. Is it a business open to walkins? Maybe some good signage?
