You could get a quote for those glass garage doors, but they won't be much cheaper. Unless you are in a very temperate climate what you are proposing is a nightmare for heating and cooling. Change the design to two standard 6' doors that have some r value to them if you are some place with weather.

Hi, I am undergoing a major renovation for a home I purchased. I attached a picture of the Milgard Tuscany Series 12 foot slider I had installed. I did not want the view obstructed, so went with a slider instead of French Doors. I don't know the cost, because I had all my windows replaced (and new ones also) as part of a package deal from a neighbor. However, the bids I received from other installers were $2300 installed. And the bid for a 12 foot Panoramic white vinyl folding window was $5,300. Hope this helps, good luck!

French doors will be significantly more expensive than sliders. As holly alluded to this is not a cheap under taking regardless and I would advise not using anything cheaper as you will end up doing it again in fairly short order if you use cheap products. And I personally would not recommend Jeldwen anything for even a doghouse!

AnnieM - 2300 installed sounds like a great deal for a 12 foot slider! Were those quotes for the same window, Milgard Tuscany? If so, I will need to look into that, looks great. What is it made out of? Vinyl? Fiberglass?

I live in Northern California, weather is fairly mild, but I will be looking for double glazing and reasonably good sealing.

I think I can get some imported Brazilian mahogany French doors for around $2,000 pre-hung with double glazed panes. I think I will go that if I can't find affordable sliders. I have one of these on my house now and it has held up well. Only thing is the muntins are kind of thick, and I think that is true of most of the wood French doors with true divided lights.

Hi, yes the Milgard Tuscany are vinyl. By the way, there was also a cost for the framing - since this is a new window. I don't know the cost for the framing because it was included in the remodel price. Good Luck!

I suggest checking with local lumber yards and supply shops rather than Home Depot and Lowe's for special order patio doors.

I have to install all wood patio french doors since I live within a historic district area so got quotes from our local supply yard who carries Jeld-wen, then had both big box stores quote the exact specs in the same line and model (Anderson and Pella didn't do an all wood that L and HD could quote)... My quote on the two sets together was approximately $2100 from our supply yard, and the big box stores wanted more than that for just one! (I remember laughing hysterically when the first door was quoted out at like $2500 or so...).

Do you want inexpensive or quality, because you will not get both. Jeldwen from any supplier in a door that size will be significantly more than $2100 for two, that is an impossible price and Jeldwen is not quality in any pros mind.

I just installed an $1,800.00 JeldWen hurricane 6' slider. I charged a grand to install it and took an absolute pounding when the building inspector got through making me tie the lentil to the foundation with 20' of #5 rebar and stuff the block with concrete.

I passed on first inspection though. You'll get no low-price sympathy from me.
