Emagineer, yeah, the lemon/orange has to be a winner. And since I keep parrots, I am very careful about any synthetic products in the house. Like Febreze. It has killed birds before. And so has the odors from teflon coated products, such as an overheated iron, a pan, and even the drip pans on stove burners. Hazardous to the health of parrots and especially smaller birds, who have such large areas of their bodies as empty cavities, including the hollow bones, air sacs, the feathers are hollow, and so any gaseous substances in the air will affect them more than most. I also do not use candles from essential oils. Those atomize you know. And you have to watch out for the material in the wicks--cheap candles generally have some lead in the wicks to make them burn better. The lead is toxic to birds, and maybe to small kids too, I don't have any kids to worry about these days. Just my birds. On occasion, I put a fabric softener sheet into the a/c vent to give a nice powdery fresh smell. I absolutely LOVE the smell of baby powder. One thing about the smell-good stuff. Your NOSE can reach a point where it becomes desensitized to existing smells, which become part of the background. Even though someone else enters yourhouse and notes the applepie smell, you might be unaware of it if it is ALWAYS there. So I'd suggest you switch it up now and then. The nose is a wonderful sense to have working for you. Now, like "white noise" blocks out unwanted sounds, I submit the simmering vinegar, removing odors in the air, is like "white odor block" which will help remove (due to its chemistry) the smell of wet dog or stale cigarette smoke or soured laundry or grossly dirty carpet. I would keep that working ALL the time because it will subtract odor, not add to it. Only when you put the vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, into the mix, will another more pleasant scent be noticed. Let's hear it for a clean house!!

Bronwynsmom is right! I would be so tempted to order them in the balsam! I love the scent of pine trees, but because I'm allergic to evergreen trees, I can only have the artificial ones in our home. I'm technically only allergic to their pollen in the Spring and touching them anytime. We live here in the mountains of New Mexico, in the middle of thousands of acres of pinon pine and juniper trees, but I don't have any problems until the pollen hits in the Spring. Last week I bought a real mixed evergreen wreath, swag and candle ring for here in the house and they don't bother me at all (I don't touch them, though). But . . . a couple of days ago I bought one of Glade's Scented Plug-ins in Simmering Spruce. I plugged it in and within the hour I was having some breathing problems(coughing and shortness of breath). This was definitely caused by the plug-in. I unplugged it and it took about 6 hours for my breathing to get back to normal. That thing is going back tomorrow! So if, like me, you or a loved one has allergies to pines, be very careful about the pine scented oils, candles, potpourri and whatever. As Bronwynsmom said, "most scented products use chemicals that mimic the real thing, and those can shut us right down". I learned the hard way, but I realize that it could have been much worse. Lynn

You can't imagine what a nightmare happened. I'd started using it in dad's bathroom at BIL's house, and during process of removing the TOO-SHALLOW BAD-DESIGNED DISH to show my BIL, it had gotten SO hot, that my hand tipped it (same as gingerly tipping a bowl of burning soup). ...OUCH - reddish wax (mandarine scented) splattered all over my BIL's pristine white bath-sink & counter. Also ruined the sleeve of my wool top - both inner & outer part of sleeve. I was crying my heart out from the stress. Thing is - there seems to be only: 15w bulbs 4w bulbs Question: Are there 10w bulbs - so that it should still offer a yummy scent, but NOT liquify & cause a horrific mess? How I wish I was conveniently located to convenient stores such as malls or AC-Moore's where people buy these things (as testified on YouTube video's). Whoever lives near such stores takes it for granted that such conveniences are easily accessible to most people, instead of the crap which people fall into online. Update: washed my bath towels lastnight with Sunlight, 1 oz Sodium percarbonate, and STPP, water temp 132 deg f....I used Downy Free and after drying I put some lemon essential oil on an old clean cloth and tumbled No Heat for 10 minutes. The towels are still white lol..they look and feel soft and fluffy. They smell like fresh crisp lemon. So this worked nicely at least on towels that had no tattle tale grey. This morning I washed a load of jeans; water temp 125deg f..with Sears Plus Powder and STPP.....in the rinse I added just about 2 Tablespoons Members Mark FS. Again the jeans are clean and smell fresh with just the right amount of softness, I don't like overly softened jeans. Currently I have black jeans that hubs wears to work, (retired but works) he works at a auto parts so often gets grease and oil on his clothes, I did a warmish-more cool prewash with Sears powder. Now they are washing, water temp about 130 and I used Tandil Premium detergent liquid, and STPP. They just started agitation so it will be awhile. Stay tuned LOL
